A good bad movie is like popcorn for the soul!

« on: February 10, 2011, 09:25:24 AM »

My Dad, who is 84, fell and broke his hip this weekend.  He actually fell Friday night, and walked around on it for three days, thinking it wasn't broken.  Then Tuesday it gave out completely.  He had surgery yesterday and they used screws to put the fracture back together.  He is resting comfortably this morning in the hospital.

Any good words you can put up for him would be much appreciated - prayers, of course, to whatever deity you pray to (no human sacrifices to Cthulhu, please!), positive vibes, karma, whatever.  I just want him to get better soon.

He is my hero and my best friend, and I'm just not ready to let him go yet.

My prayer, good thoughts and vibes, and no sacrifices to Cthulhu (not even a little one) for your dad's speedy recovery.

My step-father was my father figure much moreso than my biological father. He passed two years ago, it became immedicately obvious how much of a glue he was for our family. Your father obviously carries that same weight for you. I can only hope I mean that much in my own little family.

I have a defiant nature, and I am convinced it is why I almost never get sick. I just refuse to accept it. I'll throw a little of that your pop's way, Indy.

My best wishes to your dad Indy, I hope he recovers soon.  My parents are getting to that age where I'm always worried one of them will fall and break something too.

If your Dad is tough enough to walk around on a broken hip for 3 days then he's easily tough enough to handle the recovery. As a matter of fact if they prescribe any type of rehab exercises for him he'll probably be running circles around you in no time.

Best Wishes to you and you Dad.
