Lagomorphs: menace or underutilized resource?

« Reply #15 on: February 10, 2011, 04:25:20 PM »

Prayers made. May his recovery be swift and complete.

I tried to make a bad joke out of Isaiah's son's name: Maher-shalal-hashbaz ("Swift is the booty, speedy is the pray prey"), but it just wasn't happening. Still, may his booty be as swift as your praying. Or something like that.  TongueOut

I hope he gets well soon!  And I hope you can keep him resting long enough to get better!  He sounds like one of those "It's just a scratch" kind of guys.

My Dad, who is 84, fell and broke his hip this weekend.  He actually fell Friday night, and walked around on it for three days, thinking it wasn't broken.  Then Tuesday it gave out completely.  He had surgery yesterday and they used screws to put the fracture back together.  He is resting comfortably this morning in the hospital.

Any good words you can put up for him would be much appreciated - prayers, of course, to whatever deity you pray to (no human sacrifices to Cthulhu, please!), positive vibes, karma, whatever.  I just want him to get better soon.

He is my hero and my best friend, and I'm just not ready to let him go yet.

Warm hugs to Indy Senior!  Smile TeddyR

If your Dad is tough enough to walk around on a broken hip for 3 days then he's easily tough enough to handle the recovery.

That's just what I was thinking: he is one tough dude if he can walk around with a broken hip.  Thumbup

Hi Indy

I did a one card Tarot reading for your dad and it came up with the Temperance card.

This means that patience and moderation will result in good management of all things.  Temperance is the card of good health in all areas - physical, mental and emotional.  When illness or disease is a concern, Temperance holds out the promise of vitality and well being.

Balance is the key.  Moderation and patience and it will all come to pass.

Don't fear sweetie - it's all good.   Cheers

It's been established for year's that a positive mental attitude is often instrumental in a person's recovery, no matter where that positive attitude comes from. Indianasmith, you're one of the most positive people on the board, so I think your father will be served well by good company.

So here's to wishing your father recovers quickly!

He's been moved to rehab.  He was really tired when I went to see him yesterday, but he is making good progress.

Wow, Indy...sorry that I missed this thread until now.  Prayers and best wishes to your Dad, you and all your family.

My Mom broke her hip last summer and she had a REAL tough time for a while.  She's got tons of medical issues (including some worsening dementia), and there was a time we thought it was 'her time.'

But, she has recovered tremendously...sounds like your Dad is on the mend.  Here's to that path continuing.
