When was the last time you went and what are your favorite places offering All You Can Eat?

There's a local Russian restaurant nearby and we went there around Christmas to take advantage of their All You Can Eat menu, especially since we never really tried much Russian food before. The food was great and I filled my plate three times  Thumbup We are planning to go there again soon.

We've been getting All You Can Eat sushi takeout for years. Sadly they only do it on Mondays.

There used to be a Country Club All You Can Eat brunch in another town. Best food ever including eggs, biscuits, sausages, ham, home fries, breakfast gravy, bacon, fried chicken, stuffings, pies, greens, cakes, desserts. We went there at least 3 or 4 times a year but they closed shop in the late 90s. I still miss them.

There's an asian restaurant here in Palmer that has quite a bit of seafood, buffet style. There's another in Anchorage that does the same, but with vastly different selections. I like them both.

I think the last time I went for lunch to a buffet was a few years ago at the local Chinese buffet.  Not the best food in the world but filling.

There is an awesome breakfast buffet down near the beach in my area.  Last time I went there was last June.  They have some of the greatest eggs benedict I've ever had.

My wife is Brazilian and I am a big fan of the Brazilian "rodizio" restaurants.  It's all you can eat and they bring the meat to your table on big skewers that just came off the rotisserie.  So the meat is sizzling and juicy when you get it.  They just keep coming with skewers of beef, chicken, sausages, pork, chicken hearts, lamb, you name it.  And they carve it right into your plate . . . as much as you want.  Some restaurants give you a card to place on your table with a green side and a red side.  You display the green side if you want the waiters to keep coming with meat and you flip it over to the red side when you want them to stop for awhile.  They also have a self-service area where you can fill your plate with rice, beans, salad, and other veggies and finger foods.  These deals usually cost around $15 - $20 per person, but it's well worth it if you can eat a lot of meat.

I used to visit a lot of all-you-can-eat Chinese buffets. In this part of Canada, that is by far the most common kind. My family has frequently used Chinese buffets for special occasions, such as Mothers Day, and even Thanksgiving and Easter some years. When my grandmother was too old to cook a Thanksgiving or Easter dinner, we'd go visit her and take her out to the Chinese buffet. At that time, there was a fantastic one in her town. Not the biggest, but all good stuff. In our own area, we mostly went to the giant Chinese buffets in the city.

The thing I really miss about my hometown is the Sunday brunch buffets. In the middle of Mennonite country, brunch buffets are numerous, busy, and always well stocked. Not just at restaurants either. A couple of the hall rental businesses put on brunch buffets as well. Always good, solid food - bacon, eggs, sausage, fried chicken, turkey, lasagna, stuffing, several kinds of potatoes, gravy, omelet and waffle bar, huge salad bar and dessert table. There's nothing like it here.

Wow, you guys still have Sizzlers?  We had those for a short time here in the U.S. but they disappeared almost as quick as the old Weiner King restaurant in Old Flemington, New Jersey.

We have a boatload of Chinese buffets around here,  and outside of that, I've seen no other kind of buffet in our area. Seems the Chinese have the corner on the market for that.

There's not many around but they are still around.  A few years ago we had a scare in my town.  Some crazy woman went to the Sizzler in the city and poisoned a lot of the dishes in the salad bar and a few people died and many got sick.  It looked like the end of Sizzler, but they recovered.

I just realised that we have Yum Cha in Chinese restaurants here.  That's where they bring around trolleys of food and you just pick what you want and they write it down on your bill.  I suppose that would be considered All You Can Eat.  Because I'm vegan and eat very little, the idea of all you can eat is quite a novelty to me.

But if you're a big eater, it's a very economical way to eat food, especially if you're on a limited income as well.
