So, with all of these actors and actresses out there who are pretty damn bad, sometimes... that can actually turn in a good preformance.  It could be any reason.  What bad actors or actresses' turned in a good performance that surprised you?

Modanna was surprising good in Dick Tracy in my mind.  She wasn't that great, but she was still good and coming from her, being good in a role is a surprise.

Now, I heard (Keyword: HEARD) that Paris Hilton was actually good in Repo: The Genetic Oprea, but then again the character wasn't that much of a stretch for her.  Again, HEARD.  Don't shoot at me!

OH! I liked Bronson Pinchot  in TRUE ROMANCE-of course he was playing an irratating whiny idiot-but he was good at it!

 BounceGiggle  Cheers

I almost said 'Memoirs of an Invisible Man'... But didn't.

Anyway, I would go with Sharon Stone in 'Casino'.

BounceGiggle  I like him on Community, but that's mainly b/c his character is such a dolt.

Kim Basinger in LA Confidential is the big one that comes to mind.
Vin Diesel was good in Boiler Room - and The Iron Giant.
Gerard Butler is pretty bland most of the time but he gave a really nice, understated performance in Dear Frankie

Adam Sandler...as much as it pains me to say this...was good in Mr. Deeds.

Jude Law as "Watson" in "Sherlock Holmes". He did an amazing job. Everything else I've seen him in was a bad romance comedy which made me hate him. When I heard he would be Watson I terrified for the film's quality. Now it seems the movie wouldn't have been HALF as fun without him. Even WITH Robert Downey Jr. I expect great things from him in the upcoming sequel.

Bronson Pinchot in The Langoliers.

Here's a case in which a normally annoying actor gave a good performance, but also in which the rest of the movie itself was absolute garbage. The Langoliers was dreadful to watch, yet I made it through because of his performance.

Bo Svenson in Kill Bill: Vol. 2.  Admittedly, a small role.  But he played it well.

Nicholas Cage in Moonstruck.  I actually really liked that movie, and I really didn't mind Nicholas Cage in it that much... Thumbup

It is true.  The reason?  Paris Hilton basically plays herself!  Her character is a slutty, selfish, inheritance stealing, daddy's girl.  Other than that, her acting sucks. TongueOut

Hmm, so you didn't like The Truman Show or Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind?
