Hello!

I hope someone can help me here.

My friend is looking for a movie she saw when she was a child. She can't remember name, just some random plot details. She also thinks it was german movie, but I wouldn't be so sure [I checked a lot of german movies, no luck so far].

So it was a horror, from 70/80 [at least that's what she thinks].

Cruise ship had sunk into a lake, everyone died, and people were blaming captain of the ship.

Years later captain comes back from the lake, still wearing his uniform, covered with seaweeds. He wants to take revenge on people who blamed him.

Ending scene was happening in some kind of castle, where the captain was fighting with a woman (a witch?), and he cut off her head.

He was also afraid of mirrors and was avoiding/breaking them.

A bunch for randoms:

There was a scene with a cat walking on a fence. Cat stumbled and ended up impaled on the fence.
When captain killed that woman (witch), her brain landed on a desk.
Every time captains appears, everyone felt freezing cold.
Captain was swimming underwater, and he was also wearing white trainers/shoes.

Any clues?

I would REALLY appreaciate any help!

This sounds a lot like "Hysterical!" from 1983, except that it is more a comedy than a horror.  Perhaps "Hysterical!" took some ideas from your mystery movie?  The other possibility is that remembering a film from over 20 years ago will cause distortion.  Perhaps this is the correct film.

Thanks for your help, but that's definitely not that move, we just checked trailer on youtube and she doesn't recognize it at all :(

She's 100% sure it wasn't a comedy horror, but  "real" horror.

Haha I feel  like we won't ever find that movie!

It is a German movie. Your friend is remembering a very, very obscure film titled DARK ECHO (aka DEEP ECHO) from 1977. It's about the ghost captain of a sunken excursion boat who comes back to kill those who caused the accident. There is also a witch with a raven on her shoulder. It's set at an Austrian lake and didn't see wide release outside Germany/Austria.

Extremely good work there, sir.  It's interesting that perhaps "Hysterical!" borrowed a lot of basic ideas from this film, though "Hysterical!" is more of a farce of slasher films.
