Despise the crappy special effects, the poor acting and the repetitive stock footage; Ape will always be a entertaining King Kong rip-off that is worthy of the B-Movie status. The story starts out on a toy boat with 2 sailors talking about what there going to do with this 36 foot tall monster. This is where the good stuff really begins. First the Ape break loss out of a toy boat, he then swims out to the ocean and fights a giant shark but the shark doesn't fight back since its not really a shark its just a play toy in which the Ape throws.  He then invades land and scares children, fights a giant rubbar snake, and trashes down modeled buildings, oh and I forgot to mention that he even flips the bird to a plane and not only that but he even dances to music by clapping his hands. So as you can see there is plenty of fun yet to be had, one of the better King Kong cash ins along with The Mighty Peeking Man..

A*P*E needs a delux 3D Blu-Ray release. Hey, I'd gladly upgrade from the DVD.

I love bad movies but A*P*E is too hardcore for me. In other words, the badness is too dull for me to enjoy.

This is a ridiculously bad movie.  I have the DVD, but would love to see it in 3-D (although, according to The Psychotronic Encyclopedia of Film, the 3-D is terrible).

This is one I've always meant to see, but just haven't gotten around to. I'm sure I will.

"Not To Be Confused With KING KONG" is one of the best taglines ever.

"Not To Be Confused With KING KONG" is one of the best taglines ever.

Here's a bit of trivia behind the reasoning of that tagline. A*P*E was originally going to be called "The new King Kong" but being on the breech of lawsuit due to copyright they had no choice but to change it, as well as leave a little note at the end of the trailer which is where "Not To Be Confused With KING KONG" originated.

Wow, in 3D as well.  That has to rate as one of the worst trailers ever.  Thumbup

Here's another bad one I was lucky enough to buy while it was available on DVD:

I've been meaning to check out Queen Kong. One of the few I haven't seen.

The Mighty Gorga takes the cake though. The FX make Queen Kong and A*P*E look top of the line in contrast.

If a movie is Good/Bad, it has some redeaming qualitiys, at least in attitude and a warped sense of style. See PLAN 9.
Bad/Bad is so bad, it's hard to riff on, unless you're so steamed at it, you go at it like a zombie Hannibal Lechter at a MENSA convention.
See, THE MIGHTY GORGA, A*P*E and QUEEN KONG.

Thank you and good night.
