1.) Empire Strikes Back - great film from start to finish and it never looses it's pace.  Great characters and development of the plot.

2.) A New Hope - it started it all and although the dialog simply doesn't hold up (especially Princess Leia) it is a wonderful thrill ride.

3.) ROTJ - The first half hour rocked for me and growing up I marvelled at Jabba's Palace and it's inhabitants.   The speeder bike chase scenes rule.   Then unfortunately the train goes WAY off the track with the Ewoks.  However the Emperor does his best work in this one and although I'm a fan of the Dark Side, I like when Vader redeems himself.

4.) Revenge Of The Sith - Not bad but could have been oh so much more.  Anakin's fall to the Dark Side was absolutely ridiculous and quite frankly this ending note on the prequels left a sour taste in my mouth.  That and Lucas dropped the ball with so many oppoutunities with characters like Grevious.

5.) The Phantom Menace - Ug...of all the letdowns in the history of cinema, this one simply takes the cake.  I was jacked for this one and so excited.  I took the day off of school and work just to see it.  The first 10 minutes had me and I was excited.  Then that stupid @ss reptilian mother f*cker came bouncing into my life on the Gungan planet. I smiled at him the first time he talked and by the second time I found myself already hating his guts.   THEN we get introduced to "little Annie"...f*cking-A that whole Tatoonie sequence is like water torture.  The one redeeming quality is Darth Maul who Lucas off's in a ridiculous manner before we get to truly enjoy his evilness.  This film very narrowly beats out...

6.) Attack Of The Clones - I wasn't expecting much after the Episode 1 disaster but this one went over and beyond letting  me down.  The acting was simply too painful to bear.   Anakin and Padme's romance is unbearable from the get-go.   That and the CGI is AWFUL!

Star wars is the biggest thing from my youth ever. It got me into film. So here is my predictable list

The Empire Strikes Back - One of the best Films ever. It has the best tone of the films and some of the best action.

Star Wars - Its the original, what more can I say?

Return of the Jedi - I honestly don't have a problem with the ewoks. They are just kinda there for me and iv'e never had a problem. The whole movie is just as good as Empire and Star Wars.

Revenge of the Sith - Way better than Episodes I and II, but still not as good as the originals. I like all the action in it, and less of a political focus.

The Phantom Menace - I can stand the Ewoks, but Jar Jar is a problem for me. The movies plot has too much of a focus on politics, which doesn't belong heavily in star wars and just confused me when I was a kid. Darth Maul was awesome and the best part of the film, along with John William's soundtrack

Attack of the Clones - I don't even really want to talk about this film...

The Empire Strikes Back - simply the best film, has the most startling plot twists and revelations and holds your interest throughout.
A New Hope- the start of it all, I agree with a thrill ride, coming of age story amongst the stars.
Return of the Jedi- has the best and weirdest monster/creatures. Some cool moments with many key characters although the Ewoks add a somewhat unwanted comedic element yet I have to admit to liking them as a kid.
Attack of the Clones- yeah I liked this one best of the newer films. Yeah the romance felt incredibly forced but there were many cool monsters and battles. CGI wasn't always convincing but yeah I liked this best of the newer films.
Revenge of the Sith- Kind of a disappointing and somewhat unconvincing conclusion but has some cool showdowns. Still found it kind of a letdown.
The Phantom Menace- bored me to tears with its boring races. Only Darth Maul made it slightly interesting at the time and he's not on screen very much.

I agree with Jase and rank them the same way.  I was surprised to see more hate for AOTC than TPM.

I'd also rank them the same way.

Although, I can't remember much about Revenge of the Sith since I believe I fell asleep before the end.

1)  Star Wars - super movie.  Great characters, great action, very involving plot.  Love it.

2)  Empire Strikes Back - Starts out awesome, but kind of peters out halfway through.  When they got to Lando Calrissian's place, I dunno.  That whole thing just didn't work for me.

3)  Attack of the Clones - the dialogue and acting positively stank, but this one was at least fun.  The dual plots with Obi Wan and Anakin kept the pace going, the environments were pretty cool, and the action was good.

4)  Return of the Jedi - didn't like the beginning where Luke is Mr. Egotism, don't even remember the middle, and the Ewoks...good grief.  Marked the beginning of Lucas' descent into childishness.

5)  Kind of a toss up.  I guess I'll put Revenge of the Sith here.  At least we got to see some of those annoying Jedi Knights get massacred.

6)  The Phantom Menace - Just a dumb kids movie.  The earlier films brought out the little kid in everyone, where this was a film only a little kid could like.  I think I stole that from Burgo  TeddyR

That's one scene where I prefer the special edition edit. It looks less like Lando lives in a shed.

The Phantom Menace- First one I saw, I liked it, but everyone tells me it sucked.  I don't know.  I liked it for what it was.

Attack of The Clones- caught this on HBO a few summers ago.  I didn't think it was terrible.

Revenge of the Sith- Never bothered to watch it.

Star Wars- Tried watching it as a kid.  Had zero interest.  Bored me to tears.

Return of The Jedi- Never bothered after attempting to watch the first.

Empire Strikes Back- Again, after I tried watching the '77 Star Wars on tv and was bored, I didn't bother with the sequels until Phantom Menace.

Meh.  I don't get it. Buggedout

Empire Strikes Back - Like the first film but bigger, flashier, darker and better developed.

A New Hope - Great movie, a joy to watch as kid and a prime example of what you can achieve on a smaller budget with good hard graft and imagination.

Return Of The Jedi - I liked most of it, but it got too cutesy and they introduced too many silly characters. Still a very good family sci-fi film though.

Phantom Menace - Went to the cinema and was disappointed. Don't hate it so much now, since the other prequels came out.

Episodes I & III - Don't exist to me. CGI horses**t.

A New Hope - I think it's the best them.

The Empire Strikes Back - I have nothing bad to say about this one, I just like A New Hope a little bit more.

Return of the Jedi -I have nothing bad to say about this one, I just like the other two more.

Revenge of the Sith - Miles ahead The Phantom Menace and Attack of Clones in my book, but falls short of the original trilogy.

The Phantom Menace - if not for Jar Jar and Jake Lloyd I think this could've been as good as the original triology.

Attack of the Clones - This bored the crap out of me. The acting was wooden. The couple falling in love is filled with cliches. The action scenes are dull. I truely hate this film.

Lagomorphs: menace or underutilized resource?

« Reply #12 on: April 27, 2011, 05:03:15 PM »

Ep. IV (New Hope) - Good story told well.

Ep. V (Empire Strikes Back) - Good action, horrible acting.

Ep. VI (Jedi) - Okay, but getting overblown.

I loved all three as a teen, but going back and watching them, I see more flaws in the V & VI that take away from watchability.

Eps. I-III - Don't care enough about them to rank them. They weren't Star Wars movies as far as I'm concerned; they were modern, mostly-plotless action movies with appearances by Star Wars characters.

Actually though I said I'd rank them the same way Jase did, I didn't look closely enough.  I'd put the original STAR WARS slightly ahead of EMPIRE.  In other words

STAR WARS
EMPIRE STRIKES BACK
RETURN OF THE JEDI
ATTACK OF THE CLONES
REVENGE OF THE SITH
THE PHANTOM MENACE

It's time yet again for me to go beyond the conviental norm and move away from the pack, because that's how I roll!

Return of the Jedi: I love this film and is probably the only Star Wars film to make my Top 20 list.  The rest sort of start appearing around the 40s and 50s.  I like how it ended, enjoyed the action, and introduced my favorite Stormtrooper of the series, the Bike Trooper.  Love that helmet.

The Phantom Menance: Believe it or not, if I had not seen this film, I would never be a fan of Star Wars.  Watching the original 3 as a kid, even though ROTJ was awesome, I really was not into it.  This brought me in.  While I see all the problems everyone brings up, it does not bother me at all.  It also has one of my all time favorite action scenes in any film, the Darth Maul duel.

Revenge of the Sith: While some villians meet their end a bit too quick, I really enjoy this film.  I wasn't a huge fan of Star Wars at this, so seeing this film I finally got how everything connected and lead into the original 3 films.

Empire Strikes Back: *Shrug* It was alright, but I never really loved it, even now.  It's good.  This was the first Star Wars film I saw as a kid and I was rather unimpressed with it.

Attack of Clones: A lot of great action scenes, but the focus on the romance left me completely bored out of mind.  In fact, everytime I watch the film, I skip all of that so I can get back to mystery.

A New Hope: I am just not into this film.  It's not a bad film, but I am just not into it.  It probably wouldn't even make a Top 100 favorite list in my mind.  It's so forgettable to me that it is rather sad.

Hey!  Wait a minute, what about the other Star Wars films?  Where do the Ewok, Clone Wars, and Holiday Special fall on your lists?
