This is extremely vague :

- All I remember is the final scene of this film. The camera pans down to a clown ( I cant remember if it was a toy or not) after it has fallen down a trap door. You think the clown is dead then his eyes open sharply.

Its very similar to the end of The House On Sorority Row, but I'm fairly certain the clown is supernatural.

Any ideas?

No not that.

I did forget to mention, I'm pretty sure it was made in the 80's.

Perhaps 'It'? The first episode (it was a mini-series( would have ended with Pennywise the clown possibly - but not - dying as he sank into the ground.

There is a movie from the 1980s called Ghosthouse that has a creepy clown doll in it, and features prominently at the end....though I don't remember a trap door being involved...
