Mutant insect

I watched this movie a few years back, but the DVD had a scratch that kept me from seeing the end. Now I want to try to find it again, but can't remember the name.

As the title shows, it is about a mutant insect. I believe the movie is fairly recent, I would guess within the last ten years. The heroine is a teacher, high school I think, with short, perhaps red, hair.
The hero is a cop. One of her students was also an important character. As I recall, the officer, student and the monster were all romantically interested in her.

There is one scene that shows whenever someone she likes breaks her heart, she takes a picture of herself crying and puts it on a wall or door.

Near the end of the movie, the teacher, cop and student are trapped in the school and planning something to kill the insect.

Yes, it is. No wonder I couldn't find it, I was looking for a standalone movie. I had forgotten it was a sequel.
