As in NOT tuna cassarole, mac and cheese or hot dogs.

Mine is Polish or Russian-both are very alike.
I am Norwegian by heritage-but you won't catch me eating ludafisk. I was raised around Polacks and Russians.

I love-

Glumpkis-aka pigs in a blanket aka stuffed cabbage.
Rice and meat in cabbage with tomato juce and spices-lotsa caraway seeds.

Pierogis-either stuffed with saurkraut  and ground beef(my favorite!) or goat cheese and mashed potatoes!

Blood sausage-sounds gross-dam good! made with rice (or barley) and -well-blood!
(And folks wonder why I'm a Bela fan!)

Also love homemade kielbasa (not the Ecchrich crap).
But-you can keep the pig ear/ saurkraut soup or  pickled pigs feet-yuck!

i love asian food as well-but being in Bumf@ck,Michigan-aint a lot of it out here outside of Chunk King and La Coy.
NYC had some wonderful Chinese places...but that was long ago.
I like Mexican food too. (NOT Taco bell!) I work at a canning factory that employs many migrant workers from Mexico-REAL mexican tamales-pork and jabeneros with mole wrapped in corn husks; pig head, lotsa beans! Lotsa peppers!  Thumbup

I, like RC , am a Pollock.  I enjoy a good kielbasa sandwich and pierogis.  My mother also made kapusta a lot (cabbage soup) which I really didn't like back in the day.  However, I could probably go for a bowl right about now.

Since I love spice, I'm a big fan of Mexican food.  I also enjoy Asian food too.

Kapusta was kraut soup! I didn't care for the pig ears she used. When she made kapusta-she used ears or tripe or feet.Uck. I can eat hamhocks-but not feet or guts. I dunno-Im weird. Make it with hamhocks-ok-with ears-no.

I used to love going to the local Polish butcher shop.  They had all that crazy ass sh!t there. I remember one time they had a severed pig's head.  I thought that was one of the coolest things I've ever seen at the deli counter.

I was lucky enough to have it made right off the farm. An old Russian woman-Motka we called her-(I think that's Russian for 'Mother') made everyting off her farm. She made everything from scratch from her farm or the local folks-she had her own goats-made her own wine. 1 glass would f&ck you up as a can a worms! Peoni-thats the Russian word for drunk. Peonie!  Drink

Lagomorphs: menace or underutilized resource?

In South Texas, they stock pig's heads at the grocery store. With the huge Hispanic population, tamales are a staple (though I only seem to get them around New Year's  Bluesad), so pig's heads are common. I still remember the first time I saw them as a kid, though--scared the poop outa me.

Side note,  I like ethnic snacks a lot too or at least snacks I often find in the ethnic section in the supermarket.  Stuff like corn nuts and pork rinds.

There's this small Turkish food store that also sells Turkish street food in our town. They make the best doner kebab platters to go. Fresh ingredients, salad includes red cabbage, almond stuffed olives and turkish feta cubes. The fries are crisp, the meat is tender and the garlic-yogurt sauce (similar to tzatziki) is to die for. The portions are cheap and huge. You could easily feed two with one order.

I actually prefer doner over gyros unless we are talking baked gyros at my favorite Greek restaurant. Oven baked with cheese in a creamy Metaxa sauce. Will make your tastebuds explode all over  Smile

I like it all except Indian food.  Curry sucks.
But I have a special place in my heart for Japanese cuisine, especially fresh sushi.
Not to mention the yummiest grilled food on the planet - Yakitori!!!!
