The 1976 comedy "Drive-In" had the film-within-a-film "Disaster '76" playing throughout. From the bits and pieces shown, it was a pretty good spoof.

I was disappointed when I learned the disaster flick in Drive-In wasn't real. I loved the "Mant" one in Matinee.

Would Robert Altman's "The Player" count?

Good choice, AndyC. I can remember when this seemed to be on all the time on local TV, and I seemed to remember watching it almost everytime it was on. It was such a fun film to watch, and a surprising good film about the denizens of a town in west Texas, and what happens to many of them, when they get together one weekend night at the local drive-in.

The Stunt Man!  A fugitive stumbles upon a movie set while evading police and winds up getting a job as a stunt man for some WWII movie (I forget what it's called).  It's a pretty strange film that plays tricks on its characters and the viewer.  It's excellent!

Pretty much the same here. I remember it being on TV a number of times during the 80s, and I'm sure I watched it at least two or three times.
