I never understood why this one has gotten so much heat over the years. For me a "bad" film is one I've seen once and never want to see again as long as I live. And that is certainly not "Plan Nine from Outer Space." Actually, I enjoyed it alot more than alot of films that come highly praised by both critics and audiences.
You know those movies where a group of friends get a camera and decide to make a movie in their backyard? Then the movies goes straight to the $5 DVD bin at wal-mart or gets packaged with twenty other movies? Plan 9 had about that level of production values and skill involved at a time when doing things like that just were not done.
And it manages to have that level of ineptitude while still having having the names of three actual stars attached to it. Granted Lugosi was in poor health and died, and or was probably better known for his wrestling than his acting, but that just adds to the trainwreck affect.
