The Story: A woman tries to survive family life after being released from a 5 year stay in a mental ward.

We open the film with two neighborhood boys running through a graveyard as though being chased. Seconds later they end up being murdered by Vicki Kent (Fox). After being found criminally insane, Kent is sentenced by the court to an indefinite stay in the state asylum. Five years later, after recovering, she's released into her parents custody and sent home to try to live a normal life.

Back at home Vicki's brother Billy (Szarka) and sister Mary (Cummins) aren't happy with the return of their mentally ill sister. In fact they want nothing to do with her and agree to drive her to the edge in an attempt to send her back to the asylum. Slowly but surely Vicki's frail unstable mind starts to break when brother Billy's scare tactics become more intense.

In a nutshell, that's the films plot, and oh what a thin plot it is. Actually, the plot itself could have been rather interesting. A woman with a mental history comes home only to be driven insane by her family members. Unfortunately, and thanks to director Wishman, this film falls short in every category imaginable.

For the most part the movie is narrated by a character in the film named Detective Tim O'Malley. It seems O'Malley was the unlucky officer put on the case when a killer began to slaughter the Kent family. When the detective isn't narrating the film, we're treated to snippets of meaningless, boring, unneeded, and badly edited dialog from various cast members.

To top the horrible script, we're treated to what has to be the worst sound editing to ever grace a film. Shot without sound and dubbed afterwards, director Wishman seems to just throw sound in at any given time without syncing it to the film. To make things worse, Wishman's music score is a cross between pornographic strip club music and an indescribable, badly paced, piece of garbage similar to what's found in The Last House on the Left (the original film).

The film editing is no better. We get skewed unneeded close-ups, scenes in which actors are supposed to be in full frame but aren't, recycled chases, and to put the so-called icing on the cake, the film looks like an old 8mm home movie.

The films star Samantha Fox (the porn star, not the singer) puts on a horrid performance but one that's only upstaged by everyone else in the cast. Prior to this movie Fox was credited with dozens and dozens of other appearances on film, most being porn movies such as The Love Syndrome, The Tale of Tiffany Lust, Wanda Whips Wall Street, and many, many more. I'm guessing that after seeing this pile of s**t she decided to go back to what she does best, just look her up on the IMDB to see what I mean.

Director Doris Wishman has been out of the filmmaking business for sometime now. In fact it's been 18 years since she's been credited as a director for any film. I guess that's what happens when you release garbage like this. In 2001 Wishman released or will release a comedy titled Dildo Heaven. And no, it doesn't star Samantha Fox.

In the end, A Night to Dismember is simply a horrible film. Fact is, this movie makes Redneck Zombies and Plan 9 From Outer Space look like Oscar contenders. If there ever was a film made on "how not to make a movie", this would be it.
