What standup comics are you a fan of? I adore Bill Hicks and George Carlin, but those are pretty much the only ones I know.

Have you seen the documentary on him? I recommend it if you're into him.

Jim Norton.  Although, in this bit he's very clean, and he's usually NOT.

good call on Steven Wright, forgot about him. hilarious one liners, I actually find them funnier written down than hearing him saying them though, for some reason

No, although I've seen the documentary 'Enjoy The Ride' and read Cynthia True's biography...I'll have to check that one as well!

the youtube user BillHicksArchive has loads of unreleased and rare standup stuff, plus his unreleased bad movie 'Ninja Bachelor Party'

I'm a big Bill Hick's lover. To me he was more a philosopher than a comedian, could command a crowd without even having to say anything. He'd have people hanging on his every word and yes, he died far too young indeed. I've pretty much eaten up everything that's been put out there, be it cds, books, dvds....you name it.

Other comedians I'm a fan of include:

George Carlin
Richard Pryor (can't believe he hasn't been mentioned yet!)
Chris Morris
Steve Coogan (Alan Partridge material only)
Lewis Black

There's a few others but their names escape me right now.

Oh, and I really dislike Dennis Leary, Billy Connolly and Lenny Henry.

* GEORGE CARLIN
* RODNEY DANGERFIELD
* WOODY ALLEN (way back when he actually did stand-up comedy)
* JERRY SEINFELD
* BILL COSBY
* DON RICKLES
* JACKIE MASON

I've seen Carlin (twice), Seinfeld (twice), and Cosby live and all were hilarious.  I also saw Larry the Cable Guy a couple years ago and he was very funny.  I saw Wayne Brady in Las Vegas.  He was pretty funny, but the last half hour of his show was just him signing (not funny songs . . . regular songs).  That sort of killed the show.

I have a shirt from a George Carlin concert that says, "Simon says go f**k yourself."

Gilbert did a show here in Philly not too long ago.  Saw him in a club with about 200 people.  Hilarious live, and met him afterwards and got an autograph.

Steve Coogan (Alan Partridge material only)
agreed! I was lucky enough to see him in Bristol a couple of yrs back on the last tour. It's the most I've ever laughed. I almost fell out of my chair laughing, I didn't even think that was possible! and the tour got some pretty bad reviews as well, I thought it was great though. Alan Partridge came out singing R Kelly 'I Believe I Can Fly'  Smile

Howie Mandel is really funny.  This one he's doing his Bobby character.
