Question: How do you feel about Jerry Lewis no longer being involved in the Labor Day telethon for Muscular Dystrophy?
This is a travesty!  Jerry is the heart and soul of the telethon!
I really don't care if he's involved or not.
I'm glad that arrogant son-of-a-b***h won't be on the telethon anymore!
I don't think Dennis Quaid looked anything like Jerry Lewis in "Great Balls of Fire."
Does this mean Gary Lewis and the Playboys won't be on the telethon either?
I love it when Jerry yells, "Hey, Lady!" in a high-pitched, juvenile voice.
Ed McMahon died?  Bulls**t!  When?
I keep getting him confused with Shari Lewis, the ventriloquist.

Honestly, I haven't watched the telethon since I was a kid. Not that I don't appreciate the cause, I guess I'm just not that into Jerry. Sorry, I'm not French. I wonder if they watch the telethon in France.

Anyway, The Kind of Comedy was Lewis' best and most appropriate role.

When I was younger, it was a tradition in my family to watch the entire telethon (or at least have it on TV continuously, even if we weren't always actively watching it).  We were usually at my aunt & uncles summer home in Cape Cod with a bunch of relatives and it was the final weekend of the summer before we all packed up and went home.  So, the telethon would be on, we'd be cooking stuff on the grill, the adults would be drinking, etc.  In recent years, I still watch parts of it.  I usually catch an hour or two at the beginning, then I watch it sporadically during the night and next day, then I usually watch the final hour or so.  It's a hard habit to break.  This year, I'll probably watch the beginning just out of curiosity to see how they handle it without Jerry.  I read somewhere the telethon may only be on for 6 hours this year.  Whatever happens, they won't raise nearly the amount of money they raised in previous years.  That's unfortunate for people who have MD or know someone who has it.

It doesn't matter to me one way or another.

For me, it doesn't signify the beginning of my summer vacation if I don't have the Telethon on in some capacity.  Generally, it starts the night before, as I'm packing my bags, so I only kinda see/hear the first two hours or so.  Then, Labor Day itself is spent driving down the shore, eating at a restaurant with the family, unpacking at the motel, watching the last hour or so of the 'Thon, then hitting the boardwalk for some nightlife activities.

I appreciate the cause of the marathon and such, and I like some of Jerry's earlier movies but, as for this, it doesn't matter either way.

I read he will be involved in this year's, but it's the final one.  I think starting next year it'll bear his name, and he'll utilize connections for celebrities, but won't host it anymore.

I haven't watched it in years.  I respect the man for his philanthropy.

No thoughts from me since I'm located in Europe and gave up on TV ages ago. I wasn't even aware he did telethons, and I'm not much of a Jerry Lewis fan to have known this anyway.

Those were the early reports from a few months ago.  But recently, the MDA said he would not be on this year, he would no longer be Chairman of the MDA, and he would not be replaced.  Jerry had little to say about all this, but did say he would have a press conference after the telethon is over.  So, it looks like no Jerry this year or ever again.

The MDA probably just wants to go with someone younger and hipper, like Katy Perry or that Shia LaBeouf fella all the kids are talking about.

I think Geraldo Rivera spending x hours on the investigation on why Jerry isnt in the Labor Day telethon (like he did with Al Capone Vault) we might have one good telethon... :)
