I tracked this down after this post:

http://www.badmovies.org/forum/index.php/topic,134740.0.html

The film is a mix of "Brigadoon" and "Hostel," with some rockabilly music tossed into the mix.  It is a strange combination, and I drove Katie nuts by calling it about halfway through the movie.

The first thirty minutes or so are decently done.  What is built up is the "crabs in a pot" plot, with the trailer park inhabitants dragging down a young woman who only wants to escape the dysfunctional group.  There are a few murders that strain believability, because the (still human) trailer park inhabitants kill three people with no consequences.  It's after the death of her new beau that the young woman, Norma, snaps.  She meets Trace Adkins, who turns out to be some sort of demon that gives her a cursed gun to kill the rest of the trailer park.  Nobody survives Norma's rampage, not even Norma.

Years later, a youth outreach program gets lost and stumbles on the trailer park, apparently deserted except for Norma.  The group is split up and almost all of them fall victim to the ghosts (which look like zombies) of the dead inhabitants.  Once the killing starts, the quality of the movie plunges dramatically.

My favorite part was one zombie putting another zombie (who had been blown up by a land mine) back together with a heavy duty stapler and duct tape.  The film would have been a lot more enjoyable if it aimed for black humor or a straightforward revenge and consequences story.

I saw that a while back.  Thought it was fairly enjoyable, but pretty forgettable too.  Some of the serious scenes, like the prologue, were really very effective.  I liked the main part of the movie at first, but yeah, it got too darned silly.

A friend of mine gave me this on DVD a little over a year ago. It wasn't the best thing that I've ever seen but it wasn't a complete waste of time either.

I hate that middle ground when watching a movie that you can't really say anything great about it but can really tear it apart either.

In the simplest description I can give to this movie, it is essentially a facelift on 2000 Maniacs, just with a lot fewer maniacs.

I, like a lot of you have stated, think the opening was pretty good and thought there was an interesting movie ahead....of course I never saw that movie after that.

It's got a good opening (and what in the hell is Trace Adkins doing slumming in this?), then drags considerably before before devolving even further into nothing but a gore show...hey, they took lessons well from H.G. Lewis.

I'm not mixed in my opinion on this, I thought it was a waste of my time and was more than happy when it was over.

It's not necessarily that I can say, though, as to whether it is good or bad for anybody; it's largely depending on what appeals to them. It works in some ways (not for me at all beyond the opening) and in some ways it doesn't.

If someone is basically looking for a gorefest, well you certainly get that, and they will probably be happy. Beyond the opening at least the soundtrack is a plus. It might work for someone else, I just wouldn't recommend it.
