Why does he insist on tinkering with these movies every few years? Nobody wants it! Nobody likes it! I know he owns these movies and can do whatever he wants to them, but the public has spoken and the vast majority just want the man to leave it alone. You can't mess with people's memories. I think George Lucas was once the most creative mind in Hollywood, but as a "Star Wars" fan, I truely believe if it 'aint broke, don't fix it! There is a fine line between genius and insanity!

Honestly the only changes that has really bugged me for the longest time is the Force ghosts, and greedo shooting first or at the same time whatever, but this Darth Vader saying no thing is just awful and completely destroys the emotions behind the scene.

I was really excited about this blu-ray, but i'm seriously considering sticking with my vhs tapes.

About Greedo it seems it is not Lucas fault. He had to change the scene for avoid a PG-13 rating by the MPAA. Here is the proof.

But what is the story about Darth Vader and the `no things'? Are you talking about ep. 3? (It is the only time we got Darth Vader saying `nooo', right?)

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!  [Get it?]

The 'no' apparently is when he tosses the emperor down the shaft.  In the original he was silent, this time it's more in keeping with his whiny Anakin roots I suppose...

I saw this horror the other day.  Glad I've still got my VHS copies.

Also, listen to Obi Wan's new howl:

The beauty of the original scene is Vader's silence.  You know he's torn apart inside at seeing his son zapped to hell but doesn't vocalize it.  That makes his action of chucking the Emporer down the shaft all the more emotional. Especially for those who have never seen it.  Why George...why...

Hmmmm I may be ok with this one.  The original kind of confused me of how a human could make that howl.  This one seems more like it should be.

My understanding of the new Special Edition was that they were making the original theatrical versions available on DVD and Blu-Ray. Please don't tell me that the "original theatrical versions" is BS and there are actually changes to them. Please don't tell me that. I was so looking forward to having the original theatrical releases on disc.

Absolutely. Vader is moved to action. He doesn't waste any time expressing himself or mulling his decision over for a second or two. In spite of his mask, we can see his inner conflict as Luke gets barbecued. We know what he has to do. His good side wins out, he makes his choice, and he ACTS. He acts suddenly, silently and decisively. Why would even crazy George Lucas think that needed changing?

Sorry, somebody has to say it. He has officially destroyed any "genius" tag he once wore. Shame on him.

yeah and every few years I have to listen to the whining about George's tampering with his own art and how he's being a money grubber  with all the merchandising.

The money from the merchandise let's him make what he wants without studio input.

Get over it, and the fans have not spoken on this.  This is a strictly a fanboy issue and the general public probably doesn't notice that any thing has changed.
