In her early years she was a Glamour Queen. Her first film appearance was waaaay back in 1925 (!),and she won an Oscar for MILDRED PIERCE (1945).

But I will always remember her for her weird,off beat roles in the 60's and early 70's.

I know she was great in WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE and HUSH HUSH SWEET CHARLOTTE...but my personal favorite is STRAIGHT JACKET.
Any favorites from the Queen of Mean?

Oh I do enjoy Miss Joan Crawford's films, STRAIGHT-JACKET is the (William Castle) classic that first comes to mind for me with regards to her as well. Honestly it's been far too long since I revisited those later efforts of Ms. Crawford and I still have yet to see TROG. I enjoyed some of her earlier work too especially in this classic:

I've seen about half of Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?... I really must finish it someday. I do love STRAIGHT-JACKET!!!
