44. VAMPYRE (1932)
One of the most disturbing films of all time. David Lynch MUSt have seen this.
What I found so creepy and unexpected the first time I saw this one was
SPOILER!
the vampire wasn't a slick Hungarian or a rat-faced German, but a little old lady.
That is because the film was based, in part, on J. Sheridan Le Fanu's "Carmilla," which features a vampiress as the villainess.
As was BLOOD and ROSES (1960) and the VAMPIRE LOVERS (1970).
