So I watched the Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen last night.
I always have mixed feelings about those roasts. I know they are going to be offensive going into them, so I never complain about that. Anybody who's ever seen a roast doesn't have any business watching one and being offended, in my opinion.
Anyway, sometimes they make me uncomfortable because of somebody on the roast panel who embarasses themselves. Sometimes they just miss because they do. I mean, the roast of Hugh Hefner didn't really work for me because, hey, how in the hell does one roast a man who built an empire around gorgeous women, many of whom he slept with and seems to have enjoyed his life pretty abundantly? Yeah, exactly.
The Charlie Sheen roast was decent, though. Charlie is a good target with plenty of potential for jokes, he understands his issues and can laugh about them, and the panel was good. Mike Tyson's set was pretty forgettable, but his constant and quite loud comebacks from his seat were pretty hysterical. I know there are mixed feelings toward Seth MacFarlane on this forum, but I thought he was a decent roastmaster. Jeff Ross was in good form.
Anyway, I don't usually expect much from the Comedy Central roasts, but I thought this one was okay.
