The Killer turns out to be the quadriplegic homicide detective's brother.

A decent man who was driven to violence by the love of his brother, killing people as a way to find the medical science to cure his bro and hope the discarded bodies will also provoke his brothers mind to find the killer and give him a new sense of worth and proving that despite it all, brotherly love wins out.

Also his brother, the killer, ends up falling in love with the female partner.

Because aliens have invaded the city while Tony was dancing the night away, and now he must figure out how to defeat them using only and his platform shoes, sequins, and pelvis-swiveling dance moves.

(Sorry bob, claws just barely beat you to answering STAR WARS. But I'll repeat your ALL ABOUT EVE suggestion).
