Hey!  A brand new Sci-Fi show where people moved back into the past to start a new civilization (a different time stream so we can avoid all that messy hiccups that could occur with messin' with the timeline) and they happen to be surround on all sides by dinos. It's fun, has a very interesting concept and so far a pretty neat execution, decent acting, cool set design and some neat effects (CGI could use some work in some areas and a greenscreen effect made me laugh), and a good script.

What could go wron... oh crap.  That's right!  It's on Fox!  This show is doomed to fail since it is unique and very different than the usual show people watch.  Makes you wonder why Fox gambles on this stuff?  Anyhow, what do you think if saw it?  Think it has a possible chance to succeed and do you think it'll be any good?  I'm enjoying it so far outside of the CGI hiccups occasionally and a few cliches.

At first I thought the title of this thread referred to porn star Terry Nova.

I am planning on seeing this on demand. Forgot it was on last night.

FOX is probably the best network for it. Different concept, but FOX also had X-Files and Fringe and a few others.

Fox has always been about being different than other networks, so I'll give this show a chance. When I saw a promo a couple of weeks ago,all I could think of is how much it resembles lost.

I've seen the first two chapters and it looks like a good show. My only problem with it is that I'm pretty sure they've gonna move the plot real slowly, specially regarding the "secrets" they have hinted so far.

That's what I thought, that it looked like a cross between Jurassic Park and LOST.

The first episode is 2 hours?!

I can't sit through that long of a show.

I've watched the first two episodes and the jury is still out for me.

Interesting concept with some potentially gripping plotlines involving prehistoric critters and the rebel group, but the soap opera plots take up way too much of the air time for my short attention span. And with the introduction of the wife's old boyfriend the personal trial and tribulations will probably take up more time in future episodes.

I think it's pretty bad.  Uninteresting characters (with one or two exceptions), bland storylines, and a waste of a ton of money.  It was just poorly done.

Really a shame too, as the concept has potential.

I quit after 3 episodes.

Poorly written, mainstream junk with predicable storylines that don't go anywhere, paper thin characters that are full of clichťs, disappointing SPX and a watered down tone because its aimed at a family audience. I'm sorry but this show accumulates the reasons on why I hate TV these days.

And yes it feels like its trying to blend Jurassic Park and Lost together into one show. Needless to say JP and its mediocre sequels as well as Lost itself, are Mona Lisa and The Last Supper compared to Terra Nova..

Looked to me like it was going to get really boring. . As far as Fox taking a chance you need to look at the producer credits for Mr. Speilberg. He probably got Fox to green light a full season up front, like every other TV series he has produced.

I've been mostly underwhelmed by this show, but my 6 year old son really likes it.

He's continually disappointed by the lack of dinosaurs, however.

Then...this week's episode.

Wow.

They finally found a writer!!   Thumbup Thumbup

This was great stuff...some excellent suspense, real tension between the characters and a plot twist or two that was not only a surprise, but FUN!  (the 'cargo' in the box sent to 2149...and I ain't talking about Shannon....)

Yeah, Brannon Braga had his hand his with the mushy stuff, and there were moment of cringe-worthy predictability (Lucas loves his father all of a sudden?  Really?  Why the HECK was this BAD GUY not killed at the first chance the GOOD GUYS had to kill him?).

But....overall, this episode was worth all the crud leading up to it.

If 1% of TV was written half as good, I might get interested again.

I happened to catch a couple episodes the other day and liked it quite a bit.  Good characters, an interesting plot and numerous subplots;  might have to check it out more in the future.

My point above was basically that one  could skip all of season one and watch the two hour season finale as a standalone movie.

Little would be missed and finale has by far, way way far, the best writing and dramatic execution.

My opinion, of course.
