Evil Twin With A Coin

Psycho Circus

I've been trying to remember this film for around ten years. It was most probably made between 1988-1998 and could have possibly been a TV movie. It was about two identical twin brothers who I believe were separated at birth after their parents death. One is a real decent guy, wears glasses and lives in a nice house with his wife and kid, the other brother is a bit sinister, always rolls a coin between his fingers and has been missing somewhere for a while. Basically the evil brother tries to kill the good one and steal his life, leading to a fight at the end where the wife doesn't know which one to shoot/hit and they end up falling through a glass extension/conservatory after tussling on the roof.

The family goes to the airport at the end for a vacation or something and you think that the good brother survived, but then we see he has the coin in his hand like the evil brother did and then the movie ends.

It's not "Brotherly Love" starring Judd Hirsch or "Echo" starring Jack Wagner, just to rule out two suggestions.

First thing that came to mind was the DARK HALF (1993).

The ending doesn't match the description.  Suffice it to say, there's no chance anyone mixed up which twin gets killed.

Yeah, this movie exists out there somewhere. I've seen it, or at least the bit about the coin at the end, which is the only part I can remember from seeing it. Which means I don't remember the title. I do have a strange memory that it might be something other than an American film. Australian? British? Canadian? Something like that.

Could it be Lies of the Twins starring Isabella Rossellini and Aidan Quinn?

No, it's not that one. Just watched the trailer to make sure. One of the twin brothers definitely wears glasses and the other always has his coin.

Dead Ringers (1988) ?

No. It was likely a TV movie. About two twins separated at birth. One has a family and is successful, wears glasses, is geeky, whilst the other is a bit more rough and ready. The bad twin wants to steal his brother's life and he also rolls a coin through his fingers a lot. That's his trademark, because at the very end of the film (at an airport) after the twins have fought, you realise that the bad twin has killed the good twin. There's also a birthmark that one or both has.

I keep finding other people who have posted on other sites about this and everyone replies saying that it's "Echo" (or deadly echo) starring Jack Wagner from 1997. It is not that movie. I'd say it's probably from 1988-1994.

Wild guess (probably not the movie you are looking for): Mark of Cain (1986) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089558/

An online search revealed someone else looking for the same movie but they didn't get an answer either. Apparently Echo may be an unofficial remake of it. Someone else suggested a Lifetime film which I believe is the previously mentioned Lies of the Twins. I've seen Mark of Cain so I know it's not that. Maybe a foreign film or TV anthology series might be your answer? Do you recall if it was English or was it dubbed?

It was in English. An American or Canadian film, possibly made for TV.

Thinking it might be Take Two (1988), can't find any screenshots or a trailer though.

I'VE FOUND IT!!! It's Natural Selection (AKA Dark Reflection), a 1994 TV movie with C. Thomas Howell and here's the ending:
