I cannot remember what movie this was and hubby says I'm not making sense...go figure... :)
The movie starts out with this guy at the FBI or some government agency trying to get a job but he's not passed the psychological exam and is turned down. He goes to his buddy's house and gets him to go to Mexico with him even though his buddy's wife doesn't want him to go. Horrible, insanely "intense" things happen. They finally get back to the US and the friend asks his buddy to shoot him.
