"The Valley" in English. This is a very early Barbet Schroeder film. This film, and his first film, More (1969), feature soundtrack's by Pink Floyd. I have not seen either film. As a longtime Pink Floyd fan, I've often wondered about these films, as I had the soundtrack albums on vinyl back in the day. However, they are highly obscure and I've just never taken the time to seek them out.

More doesn't seem to interest me as much as La Vallee. What I've read of it on IMDB user reviews, it seems like an interesting film. Some comments says it's not for everyone, but if you like haunting imagery, it's a very good piece.

The storyline is about a young privileged woman who accompanies an expedition into the heart of New Guinea, seeking a valley that is always "obscured by clouds," following a legend that the area is supposed to be a virtual paradise. It supposedly explores the transformation of the central character, throwing off her notions of civilization, that progressively become more and more alien as they progress deeper and deeper into the bush, closer and closer to this earthly paradise.

I am a sucker for well-done imagery, and this film appears to have it in buckets. One of the comments said that it looks like "a cross between Jimi Hendrix's Rainbow Bridge and National Geographic." That comment alone makes me want to see it.

Anyway, I've put it in the Netflix queue, but not with a particularly high priority. I'm just curious if anybody else here has seen this film and would care to comment.
