First DVD bought:  Terminator.  Bought it at the same time as my first DVD player.
First DVD rented:  I dunno, Gladiator maybe?  I remember it froze up halfway through.
First Blu Ray:  The Ruins.  That one's pretty easy since I've only got about 15 of them total.

First CD:  no idea.

First music cd I ever bought was actually a gift for my parents.  I bought them a cd player for Christmas and also bought them THE CARPENTERS GREATEST HITS.  I can't remember the first one I bought for myself, but it may have been MY AIM IS TRUE (Elvis Costello).

First CD I bought was Building the Perfect Beast by Don Henley.

First DVD's bought: when my wife and I bought our first player in 2000 we splurged and bought a half dozen or so DVDs at once. I know the first "X-Men" film was in that stack, and a little box set with the first two "American Pie" flicks in it too, but can't remember the rest.

When I started buying CDs in the early 90s my first purchase was an upgrade from cassette, of AC/DC's LET THERE BE ROCK.

1st DVD rented? Not sure as I never rented many DVDs honestly. I suspect it's actually probably The Punisher (2004).

1st DVD bought? I'm thinking it was The Black Hole (1979)

First CD? Embarringly enough, it was Rap Traxx. Yeah I was into rap/dance/hip-hop in the late 80s, early 90s. Still like some of it now.

First Blu-Ray? The Complete Metropolis (1927)

My first CD, I got for free with a subscription to Details magazine. I didn't yet own a CD player. The first one I actually bought, was either "To The Quick" by The Buck Pets or "Three Lefts Do" by Don Pinkleton..... Or maybe it was Yes by Morphine... When I got my first CD player, I bought several at random, & don't remember who was first...

First DVD - Cat People (1982)
For some reason, I ASSUMED it would work on my PC. It didn't. About a month or so later, I bought a DVD ROM, but the processor in my second hand Compaq Presario 4716 predated MMX.
