Back in the 80s and early 90s, there was a theater in my hometown called the Lorain Twin Cinema. On Monday and Wednesday nights, they had Dollar Night-admission was a buck, and the playbill was what you'd expect, cheesy horror, sci-fi, action / adventure, and the like. Dollar Night at the LTC was where we first saw

THE ELIMINATORS
INVASION USA
THE KINDRED
POPCORN
NIGHT PATROL
and other cinematic affronts. We'd cruise out the the Oakwood Shopping Center, sit out in the parking lot until showtime, putting on a buzz, then go check out the flicks. Afterwards, we'd decide how much of a buck the picture was worth. AIR, we decided that JACOB'S LADDER was worth a dollar, whilst in the case of THE ELIMINATORS, the theater owed us each thirty-five cents.

Any DOLLAR NIGHT-type experiences in your past?

If it's true what they say, that GOD created us in His image, then why should we not love creating, and why should we not continue to do so, as carefully and ethically as we can, on whatever scale we're capable of?

When I was a kid, admission to all movies was $1.00 . . . or less.

I got Warriors of the Wasteland in the $1 bin
Dragon (2006)
Santa Claus (1959)

A few others, many I've been meaning to watch...

When my wife and I first started dating in the mid 90s there was a "second run" theatre in my town (i.e. it showed movies that had been out for a while) and they charged $1.25 a ticket. I lost count of how many movies we saw there. Talk about a cheap date!  TeddyR It got to the point where if we saw a trailer for a movie "coming soon" that looked interesting, we'd say "Hmm, looks cool, we'll have to check it out when it comes to Cinema 35." Haha.

They used to show "Rocky Horror" at midnight on Saturday nights too, which was entertaining as well.

Video wise, well hell I practically LIVE in the dollar DVD bin. Any time I'm near a dollar store the first thing I look for is DVDs.

Yes,there's still a $1.25 theater down in Waco and we've waited to see many first run films til they came there. I just don't see movies at the regular theater anymore unless they have a cheap matinee. I miss going to the nightly premiers but I just can't afford it.
