We're good.
BTW, AHD, who are you calling my pal now?
How is it that you automatically assume that anyone on here who posts from a right wing perspective must automatically be my buddy or pal?

There are two people on here I've ever had any contact with outside this board - I called RC earlier this summer when he was having a hard time, and I brough ER here because we've been internet pen pals for a decade.

While I enjoy all the BMDO regulars, I don't really KNOW any of them beyond what they write here.

I should at least expect props from you for my little George W. parody there -

"I are one!"

Come now, let's keep this thread fun and silly.

I still read the threads, including your call and response, even if I don't post much these days.  Listen my friend, you and I have not had much contact outside of this forum, however, I consider you my "pal".  Your friendliness and tolerance of this person's commentary is why I refer to you as his "pal," whether you've communicated elsewhere or not.  "Now"?  So you suggest I lump you in with arch-conservatives?  Maybe I should, but, no.  There is only one other person of offensive demeanor on this forum that I might have called your "pal" (that might have been the only time we communicated privately.)  You know who I mean.
Oh, so you're not offended by the presumably racist remarks?
I can't keep it "fun and silly" when people write stupidly or offensively.  Look at your responses to this person and their placement and OWN IT.

BTW, "bonehead", did you notice I identified the poet for you?  Bluesad

Yes I did notice that, and I appreciate it tremendously!!!  I had tried to find the author several times over the years and failed.

I had not read this other supposedly racist post, and thus won't comment on it.

As far as the "Hip Hop Culture" comment, I suppose that Hip Hop is a culture of sorts.  But it is symptomatic of a trend in urban black culture in America that is one of the most woefully self-destructive and sad things I have ever seen.  When I think about those proud black students who marched into Central High in Little Rock in 1957, heads held high, behind a protective cordon of National Guardsmen blocking off a screaming crowd of redneck, racist a$$holes, and then I look and see what their grandchildren have become today, it breaks my heart.  I cannot approve when I see any culture embrace the most violent, ignorant, and self-destructive elements it produces and idolize them.  If that is what Mr. Hopewell was trying to point out in a three word quip, then I basically agree with the sentiment.

Do you see where I am coming from?

Not everyone can be a hero, or should be.  It's okay, I admit to having a bug up my ass regarding this member because of the previous remark.  I'm guilty, too, with my "Lesbian Humor" quip.  It's prejudicial, too.  I'm no better.

Do you see where I am coming from?
Sure, but don't agree.  Too much stereotyping at the root of your commentary.  Peace, my friend.  I will drop it.

Same difference

Not necessarily an oxymoron...

The pairs 20,10 and 40,30 have the same difference.

I'll throw in

"Necessary Evil"

as an oxymoronic rationalization.  Puns are fun, too.   TeddyR

Thank you; my intent was not to offend, but simply to express a viewpoint.
I'm old enough to remember Martin, AND Malcolm; at the end, their views weren't too different, as they were about the dignity of people, not one bunch  over another.
I have a problem with self-segregation, a desire for "special" status, and those who make a profession of wallowing in the busted glass of history-thus, grow up.

Also, the reason I refer to myself as of "partial-negroid ancestry" is one of accuracy; my skin is not black, but a light tan. From a genetic standpoint, I am the product of several backgrounds, so to call me "black" is like calling fruit cocktail "peaches."

I was taught that that which we call "race" is merely a physical attribute, with no intrinsic worth of its own; people add that worth to it, but I've never understood why.

If it's true what they say, that GOD created us in His image, then why should we not love creating, and why should we not continue to do so, as carefully and ethically as we can, on whatever scale we're capable of?

The choice is simple; refuse to create, and refuse to grow, or build, with care and love.

It's all in good fun!  I take no offense, and mean none!
(I gave karma for the "compassionate conservative" quip, even though I are one.)

I would also claim such; I believe that true compassion is teaching people how to fish, rather than giving them out willy-nilly, this creating a dependent underclass.

I am a product of the War On Poverty, and its progeny, and I have seen its effect on people over the years. This happens every time the focus is shifted from allowing the pursuit of happiness to guaranteeing happiness- a militant sense of entitlement, and a state of professional victimhood.

Hummmm...is that possable?
What I mean is, you can be born to Jewish parents, but as the ethnic identity is based on a religious belief system, and you don't practice it, are you still Jewish?
Huh. Now I'm gonna wonder about that all day. An interesting puzzelment, good sir.

Strange as it may seem to us gentiles, yes. There are plenty of "cultural" Jews, who are either not religious or outright aethists, but they are still Jewish. Jewish people are unique in that they are both an ethnic and a religious identity. Take away the religious belief and they are still Jews, and still hold that cultural identity.
