A work print of the film was found during a move and now there may be a transfer to digital HD may be on the way

Speaking as a film archivist, that work print looks good enough to be a master for the HD transfer: no pun intended.  Smile

Yes, but the question to be asked is, 'how does it look during the night scenes?  Can I see what is going on?'

I'd like to see Manos in a movie theater . . . at midnight . . . in a really sleazy part of town.  Now THAT would be something to look forward to.

But is a High definition Manos really a good thing?

Isn't the part of the Manos experience the fact that it looks like the tape is so worn out that you expect your VCR to ruin it any minute, even if you're not watching it on VHS?
