If any of you REALLY ENJOY riffing bad movies, you might want to give the CBS tv show "Criminal Minds" a look.

They don't even care anymore.  The problems with this show have surpassed "dumb."

The acting is solid...but, I do feel sorry for the actors having to portray the screeeeeeeeeed that is given to them.

The problems are in the writing and the direction.

Let's take the last two episodes, just for example, though the last couple of seasons are pretty poor.

Scene:  two characters talking about the case of an unknown killer roaming the streets.  They are in a closed office, door IS CLOSED!  Two other characters OPEN THE DOOR and enter, and join the conversation as if they were in the room the whole time.  There's no way they could have known what the other two were saying, much less just picked up the thread of discussion.

Character: "Criminal Minds" uber hacker Penelope Garcia  has been pretty cool...mostly... through the show's run.  However, the last few season have had far too many episodes that run like this:

--Bad guy/girl kills victims
--Good guys 'hunt' bad guy
--Lots of pointless talking and pulling blind speculation out of good guys' butts
--Penelope tells them the address where bad guy is
--Good guys go to address

Yikes.  If only police work were so easy.  Really...the crap she 'accesses' is just BEYOND believable - it's insane.

Now, don't get me wrong.  I don't doubt that someone COULD access the kind of information she gets....

But NOT in "real time," while they are talking to her on the phone.

It's the kind of thing where it goes like this.

FBI Guy 1:  "We have 214 suspects.  That's a mighty big list."

FBI Guy 2:  "Well, we can eliminate some based on the color of shirts they like to wear."  Huh?  Where'd he get that from?  And, what could you do with it anyway?

Penelope:  "Okay, I got rid of all the guys who like red shirts.  That leaves 5 guys.  The guy you are looking for is at 325 Sycamore, and he's THERE NOW!"

Cue scenes of our stars going to the guy's house in their black Suburban, that they drive in EVERY episode despite the fact that every episode takes place in a different city.

My wife likes this show, but even she has to admit it's pretty bad when she can predict the entire plot, include SUBPLOTS, from the opening credits....

It's a BIG WIN for riff fans, though.  If you are not watching it...give it a look.  Finding the plot holes, continuity errors and poor direction/writing will be worth the hour ...

I think the show has been a very slow decline ever since Gideon left.  Sad to see the show in such a state now.  Really did like it.

We live in quite an interesting age. You can tell someone's sexual orientation and level of education from just their interests.

I enjoy the show, though I must admit to a sense of laziness about it all.

If it's true what they say, that GOD created us in His image, then why should we not love creating, and why should we not continue to do so, as carefully and ethically as we can, on whatever scale we're capable of?

The choice is simple; refuse to create, and refuse to grow, or build, with care and love.
