*spoilers but what's the point?*

Pretty bad all around but I wanted to see it just because I'm a completest. Almost all the action is stock footage from Gamera's monster fights with a tiny sub plot with Gamera getting mind controlled, again, just so they can show his destructive bits from Gamera and Barugon.

It's weird seeing a Gamera movie in the 80s. Even without the clips from the 60s and 70s the new scenes feel off. It has the same Gamera director as all the Showa movies, minus the golden Barugon, and I figure he's the most destructive thing about the Gamera series. The original scenes feel like they're trying to relive the old glory while all around I see changing 1980s Japan.

Though as much disdain I have for the old Gamera films, minus Barugon, I kind of wish Gamera vs. Garsharp was made.

So only good bits are: it's sort of nice seeing Gamera's old fights getting trimmed and streamlined into quicker paced battles and I was genuinely surprised Gamera dies in the end. Not very well, he just rams into the bad guy's ship and we see an explosion. I figured the Gamera films faded away until 1995 and hadn't a clue they tried to give a sense of closure. Though Showa Gamera ending in such a whimper seems both appropriate and painful.

Well at least it helps me appreciate 90s Gamera more, they got it right...then it sounds they got it wrong again with Gamera The Brave.
Now it's time to sing the nation anthem IN AMERICA!!!
