By BRIAN ROSS and RHONDA SCHWARTZ

Newt Gingrich lacks the moral character to serve as President, his second ex-wife Marianne told ABC News, saying his campaign positions on the sanctity of marriage and the importance of family values do not square with what she saw during their 18 years of marriage.

In her first television interview since the 1999 divorce, to be broadcast tonight on Nightline, Marianne Gingrich, a self-described conservative Republican, said she is coming forward now so voters can know what she knows about Gingrich...

Isn't this the guy who made some bad remarks about race and sex?
yeah no.

As a conservative, I'm kinda torn.  Newt's personal life is a train wreck, but he has lots of experience and some great ideas.  For the moment, I'm stickin' with Santorum.

So did Clinton.
Nobody let that stop him.
Yeah, but Clinton had charisma.
I'm gonna reward you for that.  It's interesting how CLINTON's name will always be inextricable from GINGRICH's, particularly for the latter's condemnation of the former for doing exactly what he himself had been doing at the same time.  Except with much more serious intentions, like divorcing a seriously ill woman (again) in order to marry an adulteress (again).  Very lucky man!  At this juncture with this story, it's about GINGRICH who is shown to be a hypocrite.

Bill Clinton was impeached for PERJURY, not adultery.  He put his hand on a Bible and swore to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, and then lied his a$$ off and asked his staff to cover his lies.  If you or I did it we would have gone to jail, NO MATTER WHAT WE LIED ABOUT.  He deserved to be impeached and frankly should have resigned.  It was a disgrace.  NOTE that I am not defending Gingrich - I agree that his actions were hypocritical.  But I will NEVER give Clinton a free pass for his shameful acts.

You're changing the subject.

My problem with Gingrich is he is really too cerebral and nasty to be a president. EVeryone wants him to debate Obama, but most of being president isn't debating, it's ambassadourial (is that a word? I doubt it). for example take the palestinian israeli conflict. many people have very intense views on that but it's a very delicate situation. You can't have a guy who will say something wierd or possibly lose his temper in a crazy way.  It could mean big problems for everyone. It's unfortunate because gingrich has been around a long time and has the credentials but he's just not cut out for a role. He has the disposition of a pundit not a president.

"Too cerebral and nasty" and "the disposition of a pundit, not a president"....that fits him to the letter. I've never liked the man and just couldn't vote for him. If it came down to a choice of him or Obama,I'd write in someone else.
Yes,I'm fine....as long as I don't look too closely.

Just the facts as of today, Sunday, January 22.

Gingrich has been declared the winner of the South Carolina Republican primary.

That gives the three front runners one win each.

Mitt Romney, of course, won the New Hampshire Republican primary.

And Ric Santorum has been declared--narrowly--the winner of the Iowan caucuses. Originally, Romney was declared the winner, but the results were so close, that they went back and looked at the results again, and this time decided that Santorum was the winner, narrowly edging out Romney.

And Ron Paul was a respectable fourth in the South Carolina primary behind the three front runners.

As they say in baseball and politics: "The game ain't over till it's over." And it may not be over for some time yet. So stay tuned.

Anyone who would want to be President probably lacks the moral character to be President.  Kind of a catch-22.
Kneel before Dr. Hell, the ruler of this world!

I don't know about that.  I'd love to BE President . . . I'd just hate to RUN for President. :teddyr:
