It has been warm and sunny the past 2 days.  50-60 degrees is a big difference from the freezing temperatures a week ago.

Wet and rainy here in the Northeast..despite the global warming debate, I remember many January;s in the past being somewhere between the high 30's and 50's with rain. As it was then, it's the same now..

It rained for two days, where I live, which is nothing but good news.

Good news #1
The amount of rain for January 7, something over an inch, set a record for that day.

Good news #2
It was a relative soft gentle rain, when we normally get a hard, all at once rain, so there was no flash flooding, which is what we normally get with that amount of rainfall.

Good news #3
The area reservoirs are somewhat back up. They were at 77% capacity, and when they get to 75% capacity, mandatory water rationing goes into effect. Now that those people in the area who like to water their lawns every day, instead of every other day, can go back to watering them every day.

The only bit of bad news is that we are looking at a freeze warning for tonight with temperatures dropping into the 20s, when the temperatures were in the 50s and 60s.

I went grocery shopping today; it was about 73 degrees F when we went into the store with a moist south wind; when we came back out it was pouring rain and about 55 degrees with a stiff north wind.

Gotta love Texas!

We had two weeks of snow the first two weeks of December. The rest was very mild and unusual warm. 1.5C warmer than the average, with lots of rain.
The last 8-9 days have been dark, murky, overcast but warm and still pitch black at 8:00 am. The last two, three days temps did drop (down to 17 F) but all of sudden it's very bright and sunny. It's a constant clash of the opposite heh.
They do predict steady cold temps and even some snowfall next Thursday.

Yesterday was over 12 deg C (well over 50 deg. F) and sunny.  Turned what was left of our snow into mud.  Now (at 7:15 am) it is pitch black out there and raining hard - purportedly for the day and into the evening. The sealed part of my winter boots does not go high enough for the wet/mud I have to slog through.  *sigh*  Hooray for January thaw.  Whoopee.

eta: Oh joy!  I hear the first of the thunderstorms coming through...

We had the same January thaw here, melted about two-thirds of our snow.  Now it's cold again, supposed to get up to 17 F today.  Wish we'd get a nice foot of snow, but absolutely nothing in the forecast  Bluesad

Apparently alot of the country is still on fire, but we're in a cool cloudy downturn where I am so I don't really notice.  I saw a map the other day which basically had the size of the bushfires in the north which where bigger in size than many European countries.  That seems pretty insane...

We actually didn't get much snow here in the Northeast Newt. Further south though they had plenty of it. We had light flurries today and it's cold.

After another 39 degree Celsius day everything is on fire again.

At least the cool change has come through now

It's nutty here.  A high of 43 F yesterday, 8 right now (feels like -10 with the windchill), and a high of 2 for tomorrow.  Two!  Count 'em:  one...two.
