Two old men, brothers I guess, live in a small, old house and don't want to go even though it has to go for a new road or something.
Then they get a visit from an alien, quite humanoid but going "LLL - LL - LLLLL" in a high pitched tone while moving his hands up and down from belly to mouth and back.
Later on he has a device with flickering lights that receives similar sounds, then a flying saucer comes and rescues 'our' Martian and in the end they lift up the entire house.

I saw this on TV in the 1980s but as far as I can recall it's a typical comedy from the olden days, in the style of, say, It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World or Louis de Funès.

Any clue?

One of the many iterations of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" maybe?

Was it British?

No, Hitchhiker's Guide wasn't even written when I saw  this! Besides, Hitchhiker's Guide is very postmodern, referring to tons of other stories and mixing them all up. "My" movie is a very typical classical straightforward comedy with just one story line.

No clue about the country it's from - I saw it in German but it was probably dubbed.

Huh?  The original novel was written in the 1979 and was not the first "writing" of the basic storyline.

The first TV series was in 1981.  That fit your description of having seen it in the 1980's.

Okay, sorry it was written already... I should have said the movie is probably from before the Hitchhiker's Guide was written. This movie is just about the opposite of the Hitchhiker's Guide!
The Hitchhiker's  guide is partly a parody of this kind of old fashioned movies.

A long shot-but-VISIT TO A SMALL PLANET (1960).? It's old school-and-like IT'S A MAD MAD MAD WORLD-it's very silly-and fun.

That sounds like a fun film to me - but these aliens appear to speak, the ones in my movie only went "lblblblbbllb"... so it's not it, but thanks very much!

I've seen and heard every tv, film and radio presentation of Hitchhiker's Guide, and I can confidently say that what the OP describes is not in any of them.  The plot sounds similar but only just.  But unfortunately I don't know what that movie could be.

Sounds a lot like Batteries Not Included, but it was an apartment building not a house.

Wow, thanks for reacting, after such a long time!

Unfortunately the movie I'm looking for must be 10 - 20 years older and features aliens that only make 'Lulululuh' sounds while moving their hands... so it's not it...

I think that you might have missed luh-2112's post, because it sounds like they have found your film:
