R.I.P. Epstein. I loved watching "Welcome Back Kotter" reruns as a teenager.

I watched the Sweat Hogs' escapades every afternoon when I was in junior high.
Safe travels, Epstein.  We barely knew ye!

I remember seeing a WBK episode where John Travolta was complaining about his "Girlitis" disease and was showing what his body does when he sees a pretty girl "My hips automatically sway, my teeth automatically flash and my eyes automatically sparkle."  The trouble was he was using Epstein's lady for demo purposes: Epstein's reply (with Kotter holding him back) was "How'd you like your eyes automatically black, huh?"  TeddyR

The Sweat Hogs were the ultimate "culturally diverse" gang of the time period, well before people were so concerned about racial quotas and policital correctness. You have an Italian guy, a Black guy, a Polish guy, and Epstein, and Puerto Rican Jew. Wow. Epstein was almost the punchline of the ethnic profile of the Sweat Hogs. Fast-forward 15 years and the Sweat Hogs would most certainly have included an Asian in the mix. Fast-forward to today and you'd probably have an Indian or a Middle-Eastern guy added.
