I have been in some bands with unusual or humorous band names. Also, being in a band, I've known and played with some bands with unusual or humorous band names. That was always one of my favorite parts of starting a new band, coming up with a band name. Here are some of the names of bands I've been associated with or a member of.

Oedipus Tex
Rude Buddha
The Love Gravy Project
The Clints (a 3-piece where all members were fictitiously named Clint)
El Pollo Elastico (spanish for The Rubber Chicken)
Hot Diggity Dogma (we actually fought back and forth between that an Hot Dignity Dog, resulting in a coin toss)
Das Booty (a funk band, naturally)
Men in Uniform (except they all wore white female nurse's uniforms)
Cowboys in Pajamas (yes, a country band that all wore pajamas, with cowboy hats and boots of course)

What are some of your favorite band names you've come across?

Beastie Boys- what's a beasty?

Gorilla Biscuits- all the straight edge bands had interchangeable names except these guys

the Mentors- I like how they  transformed something enlightened like a mentor into something barbaric.

I am not into their music, but I think one of the greatest band names ever was The The.

I played guitar in a band called Things Floating In Your Toilet.

Punk bands tend to have the best names.
