Davey Jones singing his pop hit 'Girl' backed by the grunge band in THE BRADY BUNCH MOVIE was completely unexpected and remains one of my favorite scenes from any film.

RIP Davey.

His show was a pleasant childhood memory.  Safe journeys, Davey.

I used to watch re-run episodes of The Monkees with my brother.  RIP Mr. Jones.  I really think that the band was more influential than many gave them credit for in the long run.

 Bluesad
This death surprised me, as he was still doing shows as recently as last fall; he performed at a venue that was close to where I live in October.  Guess I should've gone to see him...

I do alot of celebrity charity events,25+ years on and off, run security and volunteer, especially if it's for veterans and sick children. The biggest  'treat' is meeting folks backstage before an event and signing,  who i grew up with and now can finally meet and talk to face to face. On several occasions I met three of the four Monkees, Peter, Mickey and the now late, Davy. They all lived up to the happy go lucky guys  that I thought they were when I watched them all those  years ago on TV, when my Mom was healthy and alive and Dad would come and take us all on a  trip. I didn't know what I would use as an avatar, when I came here by invite a couple days ago.  The passing of Davy Jones clinched it, photo is of me and him  a couple of years ago. The last time I saw them was at the Beacon Theater show in Oct. 2011, sadly, it was their last time. But, like the photo, memories, fun times and those we love,  are frozen in time, in pictures and on film, bringing joy and hopefully, reflection on what was and what can be again, if we all just step back and reflect on our own actions. R.I.P. Mr. Jones.
