I'll never forget seeing this for the first time....I was fifteen, deeply into horror and SF, a regular reader of FAMOUS MONSTERS, CREEPY, and VAMPIRELLA, and this flick scared my tuchus off.

I'd seen theatrical releases that were yawnmaking, but this puppy made the donuts.

What do you remember about seeing this for the first time?

If it's true what they say, that GOD created us in His image, then why should we not love creating, and why should we not continue to do so, as carefully and ethically as we can, on whatever scale we're capable of?

Kolchak.. Another  Dan Curtis/Dark Shadows production. I'm a  Huge FJA, Famous Monsters fan, even spent time with good Ole, now gone, 'Forry' himself. Wink  It was a  great  movie, and TV show that followed. It was  really scary cause in those dyas of Moon shots, chaos in the streets and you just being a kid watching it all, it made a hundreds of year old vampire hiding just below the surface a  reality. Kolchak excised the demon  in a  misty underground city long gone, one of the great 'horror' memories of my youth, Alan. Thanks for bringing it up. The Night Stalker followed by The Night Strangler... It was a  great time on TV and on the screen Smile

I remember watching it on TV with my mom & dad the first time it was on . . . and several times after that in re-runs.  A few years ago, I bought the KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER DVD boxed set of the TV series and was disappointed that the NIGHT STALKER and NIGHT STRANGLER pilot films were not included.  Eventually, I will buy them.

Pretty much the best film for television yet made, and, one of the very best vampire movies ever made.  I am a huge DAN CURTIS fan, and also love DARREN McGAVIN and remember the series that derived from this film and its successor THE NIGHT STRANGLER, both of which I own on DVD.  Poke around on this forum and you'll see we've talked about DAN CURTIS and this film a lot.

Here's the ending... my favorite, like candy!!

When the NIGHT STAALKER came out-I was all of 11 years old.
Like you,Famous Monsters,Castle of Frankenstien, and late night Double Creature Feature were the s**t.
I was the geek monster kid.
Still 'em. TeddyR

Yeh-the NIGHT STALKER.
The first movie-with Barry Atwater-was f**king scary.
The tv show-I loved it-kinda cheezy-loved the living store manniquins!!

And after that! I could watch the CBS Late Movie-played latsa Hammer Dracula movies-and next came the Honeymooners rereuns-and finally-Double Creature Feature-with cool double bills like The BEAST OF MORROCO and DRACULA VS FRANKENSTEIN. Smile

And I suffered enuff to be awake through BEAST OF MORROCO only to fall asleep during DRACULA VS. FRAKENSTEIN-which I re watched the next day because a golf f**king tournament was cancelled-and uhf channel 28 showed it again! I was appaled. It was even on the cover of FM...Christ onna cross...
