Not only that but numerous characters were named after streets in NE Portland.  Chief Quimby, Reverend Lovejoy, Ned Flanders, and Mr. Burns might be short for Burnside (the divider between North and South Portland).

Huh. Kind of anti-climatic. Then again, it'd probably be anti-climatic no matter where they revealed Springfield to be.

Oregon. 

Which, as we all know, borders Ohio, Nevada, Maine and Kentucky. 

Basically, Springfield has no state!  Just an inspiration city, that's about it.  The locations and events in Springfield are geographically impossible on purpose.   Smile
