Is it  too soon? I just saw the IMAX3D version and it was visually spectacular without doubt. It was really great to see some of the unused concepts from the original ALIEN and Dune. The Space Jockey  scene was AWESOME.
I'll stop there because I don't want to ruin it for anybody. (Catch my drift?)

It's tricky to say without giving away spoilers. It's supposed to be the first part of a trilogy so it's open ended. That's fine and expected. But as a film by itself, it still needs a compelling plot and believable characters and plausible situations.
It was like they filmed all the effects scenes before they realized "Oh s**t, we need some people in this movie, quick, run around in front of this stuff". The robot was fruity, the Space Jockeys looked "special"and wtf was with those "monsters"?
A pointy head? Really?

Ridley Scott,you made my favorite sci-fi movies. What happened to you,man? You used to be beautiful.

It is my hope that the picture is an incoherent mess is because it was cut to ribbons by the studio and that there's a four-hour director's cut in the future.
