I just posted my review of Blacula (1972). Has anyone seen this early 70's classic?

Honestly, it's not a great film, but it is a pretty fascinating one. William Marshall gives a Shakespearean performance while playing a character called "Blacula." No one else in the movie can act a lick.

"You shall pay, black prince. I shall place a curse of suffering on you that will doom you to a living hell. I curse you with my name. You shall be... Blacula!"

I love both the original and the sequel. Glad others have seen it as well.

William Marshall is all the way what makes Blacula so fascinating, I mean, besides the title.

I get the feeling that, had William Marshall landed just the right role, he could have been to the 70's and 80's what Sidney Poitier was to the 60's and Morgan Freeman is to this generation.

That is very possible....I sometimes had the feeling he was better than that. Wink

William Marshall's sterling performance mixed with some of the most wooden non-acting I've seen in years; BLACULA is a national treasure, and should be shown during every Black Necrophilia Month film festival, along with this....

If it's true what they say, that GOD created us in His image, then why should we not love creating, and why should we not continue to do so, as carefully and ethically as we can, on whatever scale we're capable of?

The choice is simple; refuse to create, and refuse to grow, or build, with care and love.
