I don't think that Silent Running was ever intended as a sequel or prequel of anything, but it was a very interesting movie.  I was very young when I saw it on television and I found it very sad.

Starship Troopers 2
Starship Troopers 3

I have been warned that they are a waste of any time you spend watching them.

Hellraiser 3-onwards.  How many of those darn movies are there???

Surf II: The End of the Trilogy.

Think it deserves a mention, being the first film in a series consisting of exactly one movie.

Maybe not to obscure-but mostly forgotton.
The sequel to WESTWORLD (1973)-FUTUREWORLD (1976).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZCcpsOpQgs

Incidently-both films made the cover of FAMOUS MONSTERS magazine-but FUTUREWORLD didn't generate much buzz in fandom-(yes Virginia-there was a Fandom before the internet.)

There was also a short lived TV series version (!) called "Beyond Westworld," which I think lasted about six weeks.

It's very, very bad.  A made-for-TV movie with ZERO redeeming qualities.

Pet Semetary 2 - Early 90's sequel starring Edward Furlong. Terrible.

976-Evil 2- Painful!

They keep making sequels to Wild Things and Bring it On, it never stops! Hopefully the American Reunion movie will put an end to the direct to DVD American Pie sequels.

Nick Millard's CRIMINALLY INSANE (1975) about a killer dubbed 'Crazy Fat Ethel' was somewhat amusing in a sick, early John Waters-ish way.

The twelve years later (!) sequel CRIMINALLY INSANE 2: CRAZY FAT ETHEL, however, was shot on cheapo VHS tape and was made up largely of old footage as Ethel "remembers" events from the first film. It is just about unwatchable.

The one bright spot in the new film is Ethel killing a guy to get his Snickers Bar.

I was browsing DVDs in a Half Price Books store and came across The Lost Skeleton Returns Again, a sequel to The Lost Skeleton of Cadavera. I bought it but haven't watched it yet. But Animala is on the cover, so it should have at least one thing going for it.  TongueOut

I seem to remember watching a made-for-TV "Omen IV" starring Faye Grant of the sci-fi show "V" many years ago.

Ooh, Beyond Westworld!  I think that showed on TV in Australia around the same time as the Logan's Run TV series.  I hadn't remembered that for years.  Thanks!

Cronenberg's  SCANNERS (1981) spawned quite a few sequels-and SCANNER COP (1994)....and SCANNER COP 2 (1995)-both straight to video-

I finally watched this today. Even with very low expectations, I must say it disappointed me. Somewhere along the line the writers started thinking they were comic geniuses and went for over-the-top. I personally think they caught their foot on that top and fell flat on their faces. Animala is the lone bright spot in the movie, and even she pushes it at times.

976-EVIL II is a pretty terrible movie, but there's a great mash-up of It's a Wonderful Life and Night of the Living Dead right in the middle of the movie.
