Too late.  It was on one of those multi-movie packs I own, and I watched it.

I think this movie is in just about EVERY multi-pack available on the market. :D

...I find it odd that it turns up regularly in so many cheapy "Sci-Fi" movie box sets, cuz it has no sci-fi elements whatsoever. I guess whoever compiles these sets sees the word "Laser" in the title and immediately assumes from that "Hmm, it must be a science fiction movie."  Question

I can understand why it ends up on sci-fi movie packs.  It does involve a scientist, and it is fiction.  My pack, however, was for horror movies.  Why was this there?  Maybe it's so bad it's horrific!  TeddyR  Oh well, it's not the worst movie I've seen.  They had some good ideas; they just didn't know what to do with them.

I couldn't figure out what country this was supposed to take place in. In his first mission the bad guys all look like Cubans, but some people had African accents. I assumed it was set in Cuba. Then in his second mission they were suddenly in the desert and talking about crossing the border into Namibia, but Cuban soldiers were still everywhere, so I guess it was supposed to be set in a Cuban occupied African country all along?

Funny review, Trevor.

"Your passing in 1977 does not prevent you from editing a film in 1989."    TeddyR TeddyR

I'm trying to remember if I've seen this.  It does ring a bell.  Maybe I've blocked it out.

I'm curious how you guys would compare this to ultra-cheap, ultra-bad (but fun in its way) rip-off of THE DIRTY DOZEN called MANKILLERS (1987]..  I cannot believe it has over a 4 rating on IMDB; that movie serves as my benchmark for the "bad action" genre.  You have to see this movie to fully appreciate what is meant by the term "low budget special effects."  Junk cars with no license plates?  Check.  Toy cap gun type sound effects?  Check.

At least LASER MISSION sounds like it has something of "production values," or at least the attempt at such.  Ernest Borgnine, though...

In other news, we watched EXPENDABLES 2 the other night....annoying plot holes, ridiculous acting/action, but a ton of fun.  Refreshing to see movies like this that make fun of themselves (the Chuck Norris bits had me rolling).

That confused the hell out of me too: there is a book I have on action movies which reviews this and the author says "Welcome to the fictional country of Namibia".  Question

Thanks, sir.

Maybe I've blocked it out.

That would be the best course of action with a terrible film like this. I wish I could forget the bloody thing but I can't. Wink

Especially the dialogue about the cobra biting him and then dying in agony a few days later.....  BounceGiggle
