Haven't seen First Class, but if he's any good as Magento, he might not be a bad choice for Altair (or whichever assassin they pick for the lead).

Hopefully this actually goes somewhere and doesn't rot in Development Hell forever (if the Halo movie can essentially die from that, no franchise film is safe).

The man was fantastic in First Class, and was one of the main reasons to watch that film.  He was also great in Prometheus.

I've felt that Ubisoft made these games specifically with film rights in mind.  They feel extremely cinematic and there is a decent story here that would translate well to film.  I'm curious to see where/how this production goes.

Agree; game-based movies don't have a good track record but this series does at least have the potential for something cool. Mark me as "cautiously optimistic."  Smile
Either way, I adore Fassbender so I'm sure I'll be there when/if this hits theaters.

Fassbender is great in basically everything he is in.  After Prometheus, I think I will watch any movie with him in it just for his performance, and there are VERY few actors I'll say that about.  Saying he'd be great in Assassin's Creed is obvious; he'd be great in anything.

I think it depends on the game's story.  Assassin's Creed was like a playable movie in some respects, so I could see it working.  Of course they'll have to trim down a lot of it, but I can still see it working.
