Please Help Me Find Obscure teen sex comedy/road film from 70's or early 80's

hi hope you can help, i'm looking for a film i watched on late night t.v. years ago, the film was kind of a late teens sexual comedy drama/road movie, i think the story of this film was a guy "looking for love", one of the main character's was a young man who i think at one point was travelling by car with a woman, may have been a couple of women & he was dumped or left behind by a gas station or similar maybe in the early hours of the morning or at some point in the night, i remember as the woman dumped him she was telling him that they weren't right for each other & had different ambitions, she was pretty but a bit "dizzy" i think there was a characacter a bit like george martin in police academy (experienced Womaniser) who was giving him tips about women & i think it was at a beach party scene, thats all i remember but it was a good film, i did tape it at the time but accidently taped over it not long after, not sure if it's from the 70's or early 80's
been looking for ages for this film

no it's not that i checked, thanks anyway, i've looked through hundreds of films in every genre  on wikipedia but can't seem to find it, if only i could remember one of the actors, this is torture, lol
