 Buggedout

In my 18 years of working at www.national.archives.gov.za I have never received such a horrible enquiry. Sure, I have received many weird ones over the years but never, never like this one. Please help!

My client wants to know: "Where I can buy a copy of Cool As Ice?"

I am still shaking, Trek: that enquiry rattled me.  TeddyR

Incidentally, we have a 16mm copy of a Star Trek OS episode in the Archives: I think it is the one with the amoeba that swallows the Enterprise, The Immunity Syndrome, possibly. It is in good condition and I know what it would be worth to you and me: I wonder what a collector would pay for it if the Archives got rid of it sometime?  Smile

I would imagine it would be worth quite a bit, but I wouldn't hazard a guess.  I have quite a few collectibles at home, but nothing that would match that. Did you get to see any of the stuff that they sold off a Christies last year?

No unfortunately, I didn't see that at all.

A friend of mine has a mint condition replica of the Enterprise which dates from the 1970's: he refuses to sell it but wants to get rid of it.

I asked him for it and offered to pay him for it but he wouldn't give or sell the thing to me.  Question

Some people are just sick.

The funny thing is that I'm surprised this film hasn't been released on DVD.  Every two or three months somebody emails me, asking how to get it cheaper than it is available on Amazon or Ebay.

I thought that Cool As Ice had been released at some point on DVD. I guessed wrong.

You know, you could have saved him some time and money by just telling him to put a pot over his head, grab the nearest ladle, bang with repeated intensity on the pot with it, and use his free hand to hit himself repeatedly in the groin.  That way, he would be able to replicate that movie and save some cash.

Yeah, that is a bit disturbing, though.  I never had a question for a film that bad where I work at Wal-Mart.  I had one couple come up to me and ask for Grease 2.  I shrugged and asked if they tried to the $5.50 dump bin.  They got p**sed and asked why it would be there.  I said it really isn't that hot of a film.  They got even more p**sed.  I learned that honesty isn't always what people want to hear.

BounceGiggle BounceGiggle Thanks for the laugh, Joe: karma for you.

I got another call from this guy yesterday and I also referred him to a website called www.badmovies.org where he could read a review of it.  After some time, he called me again and complained bitterly that the film was only available on VHS and what could I do about it. Burn the negative, maybe?  TongueOut

You should let him know that purchasing that film is a crime against humanity.
