Just saw this in today's paper. Y'know, every time I watch "Storage Wars" on TV I always wonder if something like this has ever happened... now I know!!  TeddyR

Human organs found in Fla. storage unit

PENSACOLA, FLA. - A former medical examiner crudely preserved human brains, hearts, and lungs in soda cups and plastic food containers found inside a storage unit in Florida, authorities said Tuesday.
A man bought the contents of the storage unit at auction last week in Pensacola and made the gruesome discovery after being overpowered by a strange smell while sifting through furniture and boxes.
Authorities said the unit had been rented by Dr. Michael Berkland, who worked at the medical examiner's office from 1997 until 2003, when he was fired for not completing autopsy reports. Officials were trying to determine whether Berkland broke any laws.

That last line kills me. "Trying to determine" if the guy broke any laws? YA THINK? Geez.

Imagine what it must've been like for the poor b@stard who found this stuff.

(Sifts through boxes) "Junk...junk...junk...hey, what the hell is that? AAAAAAIIIIIIGH!"
I'd need therapy for the rest of my life.

I hope the auctioneers gave him his money back.

What amazes me is that somebody could just leave something like that sitting in a storage unit for years and seemingly forget about it. I'd have kept that storage unit paid for or gotten that stuff out of there before somebody else could buy it. Makes me wonder if the organs really were specimens he'd collected for some pet project or other. Sloppy and forgetful doctor makes more sense to me under the circumstances than ghoulish organ snatcher.

Or maybe he's a sloppy and forgetful ghoulish organ snatcher.
