hey guys... im lookin 4 an old matrix movie about the 70s or 80s... i saw it wen i was about 9 i am now 30... it was about a guy who relized the world around him wasnt real... n he had a nemisis like neo... all i can remember about the film is that he was fightin with his nemisis n him goin in2 a machine n wakin up 2 fall in love with this woman... n the film ended with them on a beach... any help would b gd... n i also remember wen he found out it wasnt real it had llines on the sky like the song from paris 2 berlin...

Bit of a longshot perhaps but maybe Brazil?

Elements of The Quiet Earth also seem similar...

The time period is later than you describe, but the movie that comes to mind is "Crossworlds" (1996).  It does have a 80s movie feel to it.

soz guys but ive seen trailers 2 all films n i think that the thirteenth floor is the closest but i dont think that is it... can any1 mention any more films i saw it around 1990... cheerz in advance...

An IMDB search turned up a possibility perhaps - a 1973 TV Movie named "World on a Wire"...
