I haven't laughed at a bad movie this much in a while. just thought id share for those who've not seen it.

Enjoy  Thumbup

or if you don't have the time, I'd recommend just checking the family breakfast scene at 9:40 !

Just watched the breakfast scene. AMAZINGLY awful dubbing. How can you go wrong with a killer elevator movie? I need to pick this one up.  Thumbup

Can't say that I've ever seen the 83 version.  I did, however, watch the remake with Naomi Watts.  It was pretty meh...  Still want to check out the original, and it looks like I'll have my chance now.  Thumbup

EDIT:
Watched the breakfast scene.  Good stuff!  By the looks of it, this one takes itself less seriously than the remake.  That should hopefully make for a more enjoyable watch.

hah yeah the dubbing is awful (in a good way). in fact the opening scene in the restaurant pretty much sums the film up as well as the breakfast scene, but the whole movie is like that. so 'eighties'  TeddyR

didn't know there was a remake? probably won't be checking for it tbh...

So bad, but still kind of fun; it's a novelty like DEATH BED!

You're not missing much.  Just a lot of bad acting, p**s poor effects, and very little charm.  I actually didn't know it was a remake until I first came here a few years ago.  Also, the remake goes by a different title.  Instead of The Lift, it's either called Down or The Shaft, depending on what part of the world you're in.  One thing I will say positive about the remake is the decapitation scene is pretty nasty.  They do at least a fair job of switching from live action to CGI, and it was kind of creepy seeing the guy's facial expression go from panicked to a cold, dead stare.

Lagomorphs: menace or underutilized resource?

This movie's tag line is one of my favorites. I remember trying to get the poster from a video store just for that tag line, but one of the employees threw it away.  Bluesad

That "Media" intro brings back lots of great memories.  Media was one of the foremost distributors of cheesy, obscure movies back in the early days of home video.

Wow, this looks cool!  I had no idea the Naomi Watts movie was a remake, either.

That movie poster is easily one of the weirdest I've seen.  "Take the stairs, take the stairs!"  That's right up there with, "not the bees, not the bees!"  TeddyR

Yeah, Burgo, I love the old scool vhs intros. I actually recall the Media distributed movies being quite good in general. Prism on the other hand...yeesh.  Buggedout
