I've only seen one of these movies, The Last Man On Earth (1964).

Am I still allowed to come here?

I have seen

19 High Tension (2003)This was both scary and gory so the list is on point here.

21 The Midnight Meat Train (2008)Horrible movie where Bradly Cooper wanders around the subways for an hour and a half. Sadly i own this.

22 Martyres (2008)-Pretentious torture porn film that thinks it's deeper than it is.

26 Sleepaway Camp (1983)-Great ending, rest of the film is nothing special

27 Bloody Pit of Horror (1965)-I have this on a mill creek set, I think it sucks!

33 Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead (2006)-I like troma but there was way too many musical numbers here. Stupid and annoying even by Troma standards.

34 Don't Look Now (1973)-I read the book once.

45 Session 9 (2001)-This is not gory as I recall, but i remember when David Caruso did this
Small | Large

48 We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011)Actually a legit good film that is not horror. It is disturbing but seems out of place on this list IMO.

61 The Blair Wtich Project (1999)-Not gory, arguably scary.

63 Wrong Turn (2003)-Good movie don't know what's so different about it than other movies of its type.

64 Dracula 3D (2012)-As far as I know few people have seen Argento's latest so I don't know what this is doing on this list.

67 Human Centipede 2 (2011)-Finally one I agree with, this was gory and lacked social redemption, good job maxim I guess...

This list is extremely random, It seems that they just picked random horror sounding movies and threw them together. I think it's a fail though because it leaves out:
A Serbian Film (duh!), Girl Next Door (Yikes!), August Underground (Certainly no social redemption here), 1980's Maniac (perfectly fits the titles of this list) and many more.

Well if I'll give the list any credit its that it doesn't recycle the same mainstream titles that other lists do (ie f13, texas chainsaw etc..) and maybe somebody will get exposed to some obscure titles because of it.

6 The Innocents (1961)-Very scary-no gore.
7 Vampyres (1975)-Wah?

19 High Tension (2003)-OK...some of it made little sense. But ok.

23 Inseminold (1981)-HAHAHAHA! A BAD movie if their ever was one!  Thumbup

43 Ravenous (1999) Good movie...just good.

49 The Last Man on Earth (1964)-Not gory-mild scares-notable for Price and a preview of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968).
50 Spider Baby (1968)-Again-a comedy-does Mantan Morelands ear count as gore?  Question
51 Daughters of Darkness (1971)-Weird...pretty to look at.
52 Martin (1976)-GREAT movie... mild gore-as in blood.
53 Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things (1973)-Stupid COMEDY horror film...boring as hell.
54 Sisters (1973)-Great film!
61 The Blair Wtich Project (1999)-It was ok,I guess...overhyped,though.
65 Lord of Illusions (1995)-So- so Barker mess.

As far as goriest, and least socially redeeming, they could've listed all but one film (MRS. AMWORTH) from this set....

If it's true what they say, that GOD created us in His image, then why should we not love creating, and why should we not continue to do so, as carefully and ethically as we can, on whatever scale we're capable of?

The choice is simple; refuse to create, and refuse to grow, or build, with care and love.

10 Black Christmas (1974) I like that three of these are Bob Clark films.  This one is a classic for a reason, very creepy and worth a watch.  8/10.
13 The Seventh Curse (1986 Very gory and highly entertaining - it has about 10 minutes of Chow Yun-Fat, sprinkled throughout the film so they can say he co-stars.  Bloody gore, nasty monsters, kung fu monks, a giant buddha statue shooting blood.  SEE IT!  9/10
15 Deathdream (1974) Very interesting Vietnam-reduxed version of The Monkey's Paw.  Creepy, but not gory.
16 The Quartermass Xperiment (1955) Don't remember it very well, saw it as a lad.  Remember thinking it very good.
22 Martyres (2008) Gory, but overrated.  5/10.
23 Inseminold (1981)  Bad.  Don't remember it very well though, no rating.
24 Cannibal Holocaust (1980) Very powerful in some ways, but also vile in others.  Very hard to rate.  Beautiful theme music too.  I tend to give it an 8/10, but I could also give it a 1/10 depending on how I feel at the moment.
25 Dog Soldiers (2002) A lot of fun werewolf fluff.  Not scary, but it IS gory.  8/10.
26 Sleepaway Camp (1983) A few creepy moments, some gore.  Worth a watch for slasher fans, the ending is infamous for a reason.  7/10.
28 The Pit (1981) Can't really remember it.
32 Thankskilling (2009) Mildly amusing.  Occasionally funny, and smartly chopped down to a roughly one hour run time.  For a $3000 budget, it's not bad.  6/10.
33 Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead (2006) EXTREMELY gory, probably the grossest movie I've ever seen.  I found it genuinely funny though.  Especially the last gag, if you're a long time Troma fan.  8/10.
34 Don't Look Now (1973) Creepy, eerie, very memorable.  8/10.
41 The Day of the Beast (1999) Good film, great black black humor in it.  8/10.
43 Ravenous (1999) I enjoyed this one, especially the final act.  Great music too.
45 Session 9 (2001) Watched it while falling asleep.  Remember thinking it was alright.
49 The Last Man on Earth (1964) Occasionally effective and eerie, Vincent Price is great as usual.  Worth remembering as a prototype for zombie films.  6/10.
52 Martin (1976) Terrific little sleeper - definitely the best non-zombie Romero film.  Chilling, eerie, with a great lead performance.  9/10.
54 Sisters (1973) Also worth a watch, good early slasher.  7/10.
56 The Devil's Backbone (2001) Very good film, great photography and a little creepy.  8/10.
57 Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006) Starts out pretty good, genuinely rotten final act.  6/10.
61 The Blair Wtich Project (1999) It's the Blair Witch  Project.  Gets a 7/10 for the final 20 minutes.
63 Wrong Turn (2003) Bad film, but I enjoyed it.  7/10.
I've seen the Shining.  It's creepy.  8/10.

So I've seen 24.  Maybe I should get cracking?   TeddyR

I've seen 22 of them.

If I had to recommend one of those I would say I Saw The Devil (2010).

It is a wonderful little Korean killer/revenge film.

I think everyone should stop and consider the source of this list: Maxim.

This magazine is aimed at the "modern" male stereotype. Vapid, opinionated (but uninformed except for what they read in Maxim), hipster wannbe, tunnelvisioned, image obsessed, Call Of Duty multiplayer fanboy, trend slave dolts. Not that I have an opinion....

But the target audience for this magazine doesn't watch anything other than what is on the top 10 list that week's top grossing films or has Megan Fox (or a certified Megan Fox clone/substitute approved by...MAXIM!). These are the people who won't watch a black and white film because it's boring simply because it isn't in color. And their total ability to reference ANYTHING time-wise goes back only 5 years at best. Naturally, their target readers will be amazed that these films even exist. So, yeah, good bet they've never seen them.

But I do want to make it clear that I'm not dogging the original post. Interesting list topic. Just a case of a bad source for the list. Kinda like Martha Stewart Magazine doing a list of the most awesome rap albums of all time. I don't think so.

I couldn't have said it better,Java!

These shmucks are the frat collage age dorks who listen to rap and flash gang signs and talk like gangstas do in movies. And get in their Daddy bought cars and blast rap music and "party" and think their bad ass when they play beer pong. Hard core, man!
Spoiled brats.
Thing is....this is the future of America-because the kids who DO have smarts and insight are either-
A.Poor. Abe Lincoln would never had become President in 2012.
B.Geeks-very inteligent-but they don't play politics-it takes liars and image-which the frat dorks will cultivate...and become politictions-salesmen,liars,and phoneys.
c.Scientists and economists-because their descions would be base on facts and figures-not image and bulls**t. I would add the military too-because of the simple fact the armed forces are out there and NOT playing politics-they're fighting-and know the facts first hand. I don't imagine you tink about politics when you have to go head to head with guns. I DO believe America should be armed to the f**king TEETH-and jump on any threat like a guard dog.
( As you can see-I've changed my veiw of war in the lat couple years...some people should die. Dont get me wrong-I HATE  war and the reasons why we went into Iraq-which was oil interest-but why didnt we go into Bosnia? Or Rhodeshia? I like that we f**ked up Khaddfi-Why arnt we helping the Syrian rebels?-Yeah I know-some of them are extremists taking addvantage of the original revolutionists-but we need to contact the leaders of the original freedom movement and  side with them...weed out the terrorist factions-and yes-I know-easier said than done-I dont know-Im a geek.).
To parapharse Jack the Joker-This country needs an enema.
And Neither Obama (emasculated because of his emasculation by a polorized Congress), or Romeny ( a classic example of 2 faced -tell the people what they wanna hear- salesman)-We need a Lincoln,a Teddy Roosevelt,-hell-I'll even take a Regan over what we got now!! At least he did what he said-no matter what-and got s**t done.

What ever happened to principles, morals, common sense whiout being backed by huge lobbying corporations?

Like raising your own chickens if you can buy eggs in a McMuffin.
It's DEAD.
Dead,man.
